I grew up during the cold war at a time when they had drills making us crawl under our desks in case the Russians dropped the bomb.
(AS IF that was going to help when you'd probably be vaporized....but I digress).
It's ironic in my old age that I actually like the "bogeyman" -- who is now Putin I guess. I was deathly afraid of Khrushchev (banging his shoe and saying he would bury us...)
But Putin had enough class to to graciously congratulate us on our anniversary. He's a class act.
If you'd have told me I'd say this sixty or so years ago about a Russian leader I'd never have believed it.
Snowden chose Russia when he could not find a non-extraditing warm climate. He's raising children there, after Putin allowed his fiance to come and get married there!
Russia doesn't have term limits and the people re-elect Putin like we would re-elect Trump, l'm sure.
I recall that, and also they showed us films of ugly Russian Women working in coal mines. Later as an adult I saw normal pictures of Russians and I thought well look here, they look just like us in the US. My mind was conflicted as to why we don't get along. Thoughts of a 20 year old at the time.
Yes -- but weirdly after all of those film strips, we're the ones who actually know how to survive in the aftermath of a nuclear war. I actually remember all that stuff -- (AS IF you'd actually want to survive to live that way in the first place!)
We were actually traumatized children although nobody ever considered us as being such. But I remember how frightened everyone always was during those drills...
I may be in the minority on this one, but Putin is not a bad guy. He loves Mother Russia and is doing what he needs to protect her interests. Can't fault him for that.
"Putin's brain" Alexander Dugin's philosophy aligns with occult Aleister Crowley. In Crowley's diary, he describes himself "beast 666". God's most direct command about the devil's schemes "in order that Satan should not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes." 2 Corinthians 2:11

Same. I did those same drills, listened to the cold war hype.

Yes. Like that was going to save you lol
Did any European "ally" congratulate the USA for its 250th independence day? I live in Finland and I don't remember hearing anything.
That's how little Europeans care about the USA.
Good point. No, they didn't.
Thx, comrade... and may God Bless Mother Russia

Agreed. Putin haters are just ill informed. I’ve actually really liked his speeches he’s given these last few yrs.
Putin is not the boogie man
Amazing how Putin has more respect for this event than foreigners in elected positions here (eg Mamdami)
It was very nice for Putin to congratulate us on our 250th. Thank you Mr. Putin.
Russia is not the enemy.
You would think the British royal family would say something. <crickets>.
You would think the EU would say something. <more crickets>.
The U.S. gets more support from Asia and Russia than we do from our European "allies".
