Men used to "retire to their study", but now they go in their "man cave"
I'd say the percentage of men who actually do their own research, digging and deep dives on a target subject are very, very low.
Many are distracted by sportsball, drinking, binge watching TV or just worn out by carting children all over the place for some sportsball tournament they were convinced is SO important to their future...
I go back and forth about posting many times, deep projects that expose hidden information regarding geopolitics etc - but often hold back because nearly nobody responds, even less follow along and participate in the research or offer anything back to the group - and then there are those that respond it's TLDR, because they're lazy and or retarded.
Can't really do much with that... mainly because you can't compress complex ideas into bite sized snippets that the low IQ can digest...and still not understand it
And so it is... Most come here for their single serving of happenings and walk away believing they're informed. That's not the example Q set for Anons - it's very much a participatory activity... but the takers outweigh the givers by a good margin.
Can't really do much with that... mainly because you can't compress complex ideas into bite sized snippets that the low IQ can digest...and still not understand it.
This^ a thousand times. I have so many ideas that Iโm researching but donโt bother with posting because of TLDR.
I call bullshit - Thats what Meme warfare is specifically for!
Oh yeah?
Well I call โฉ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ซ๐ธ๐ ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ๐ฏ ๐ โฉ back at ya!
A meme can be a powerful tool when used in the appropriate way, at the right time.
How is a MEME going to track the complex moves and countermoves of the IC and City of London (and friends) - in their ongoing global conspiracy and thirst for world domination? It isn't
A meme is not going to show all the parallels between say, Amsterdam, their demise and the current state of affairs we find ourselves in today - INCLUDING - shorting of stock, hollowing out of infrastructure & robbing the middle class AND carry that through to everything else going on...like Venezuela, Iran, NK etc?
It SNOT... Tell me why I used Amsterdam as an example & get a free cookie! ๐ช๐ช๐ช
There's a time & place for memes. But they don't take the place of digs and the group dynamic of Anons sharing research with one another AND making new discoveries as a result.
Many are distracted by sportsball, drinking, binge watching TV
I have taken to replacing the words "video game" or "game" with MASTURBATING.
What is Bob doing at Thanksgiving in the back room? He is masturbating.
It really changes the vibe in a room, although I question why I am not a more popular guest.
It's true, unfortunately. But just go with the flow sometimes. Play the numbers game. Meme them, and meme them some more. Sometimes, small bits of info lead to someone learning something, then an actual snowball of genuine learning happens.
It is crazy how much we have lowered our standards. We went from teaching classical Latin in highschool to teaching remedial English in college. We pass failing students, in order to not be labeled racist, history class is just anti- America class, math is racist, science is a joke more than ever, art is no longer art, and the school is just one big activist training ground -- which just trains young people to look at the world through the Marxist, oppressor vs oppressed lens. Meaning they fight against whatever the trendy thing is, but they don't defend anything.
I actually took two years of Latin in high school. My SAT score exempted me from taking English at UNC, also the first course of calculus. I took the second course of calculus, then signed up for the next one as a "slide" course, an easy good grade.
Latin helps with vocabulary. Almost all big words in English are derived from either Latin, Greek, or a combination of the two.
audiobooks are great alternatives for the people that can't sit still long enough to actually read. I've been doing audiobooks continuously since 2011.
This is true for people that REALLY want to participate in both educating themselves and want to come back here for instance, with something relevant to say, other than opinions they just pull out of their butts...or even worse, just parroting what some inflooencer said...
Many of us are well aware of the crybabies that take a look at the runtime and then whine, "I'm not sitting through 3 hours of that!"...Same guy doesn't know about running it @1.5x speed either...or too dumb to process the info that fast
I watch many videos at 2X to get the information more quickly. Many shows have a lot of dead air and slow talkers. I even play the longer Promethean Action videos at 2X, although I watch the shorter ones by just Susan or Barbara at 1X. If a video is really long, I may stop in the middle for a break. I'm old, so I pee a lot. :)
Sadly, we seem to be a "meme culture" now, where people get most of their info from short snippets of info and then automatically form large ideas around them, with no additional info to guide them.
All cultures are meme cultures, and always have been. Literacy on a broad scale is a relatively new phenomenon, but cartoons and graffiti go back to antiquity.
Ah, my own kids. The youngest is now forty years old. None of them could read a book to save their lives. One of their wives is a marathon runner. She's VERY interested in health, muscle-building and supplements. I sent her several excellent e-books on a USB thumbstick. This was six months ago. She keeps promising that she'll get around to reading one "soon". It won't happen. And she won't win a marathon. In fact she could even die, trying, because she has no understanding of basic nutrition.
When I was a teenager I would read a new book every weekend; sometimes two. Nowadays I read a lot of information for research and also manage at least one full book each month.
She must be in really poor health and feel horrible. She's got to have some very strong mental fortitude to run marathons in poor health, so I guess that's something. Weird.
I am a book collector. 1940s math book i have is college level now. Reading is fundamental to critical thinking skills. Literacy is part of America's social contract. They've owned our kids for two generations. Keep pushing and it will be cool again just like 8track tapes and cassette tapes and cds and videotapes and dvds and board games and sewing and woodworking and more. The coolest generation are grandparents now. Up to them to help reclaim history.
In ancient Egypt reading was only taught to the slave owning ruling class, and it was forbidden for all others to learn how to read. It was done that way to keep the masses ignorant, and easy to control. Fast forward to 2026...democrat voters are the largest demographic group of illiterate people, and it is because they want an ignorant and, easily controlled society of slaves. The democrats really, really do want their slaves back, and that is not hyperbole.
"Book people" are often the stupidest people. If you know someone who always has their face in a book, you probably already know this. Information is all that matters. It does not matter how you get that information. Of course, the ability to read is very important. Reading comprehension is also far more important than what form of media you are reading (whether books or articles online).
I think I need more information regarding the stupidity of "book people". I don't think studies bear this out, but I assumed by "book people" you meant readers.
Are you differentiating between the written word in books, on screens, in scrolls, and, for example, cuneiform tablets?
Is your point that getting information from any format is equal, except printed matter, which makes one "stupid"?
No. My point is that people who talk about the importance of reading books (as superior to other media formats) are usually stupid. These are usually the people who want trannys to read to kids in libraries. They are invariably liberal. They think libraries are sacred places despite the fact that libraries are purging their collections all over the country, via their Book Sale events.
OK, this swerved off in a direction I did not anticipate.
Can I assume it is the Tranny component that is at least partially the issue? Would you be happier with Kindle-Tranny hour? My guess is no.
Side note - Aren't childrens books' illustrations part of the reading fun?
Also, if one is being read TO doesn't that make it an analog audiobook?
There is a reason to bypass books for other media. Once upon a time, I received an advertisement for a Book-of-the-Month Club. Looking around, I concluded that rather than needing help in building a hardback library, one dropped match and I was going up like a Roman Candle.
But I digress.
Don't all libraries have book sales regularly? I'm not allowed to attend, but I don't think that is something new.
Books are obsolete and the amount of books a person reads in a year is inconsequential and not an indicator of intellectual prowess. That's my point, more simply.
Books are not obsolete because they can not be altered easily. They are bulky and flammable, and one is sadly limited to the number one can own.
The number of books read in a year is not inconsequential, as more books mean more chances to read works that may be enlightening. It is not a direct correlation, however.
Reading is not a direct indicator of intellectual prowess, but intellectual prowess is generally accompanied by information seeking, which leads to reading.
I keep leading horses... but few drink.

Well...Maybe we need to do something about this.
I think if there are enough people like you and me that REALLY want to do the work, then we should somehow let it be known - as fuel for posting.
Nobody wants to shout into the void...Without interest from others, there's no incentive to post.

You are correct. She is a refined lady and much prefers letting you know Bob is in the back room "playing with himself".

We must end the public school system.
Bring back the monasteries??

You are very correct. I watched (and fought against it) in real time for close to 3 decades.

What are some book recommendations for American Citizens? Perhaps we should start a GAW Book Club?
Video at link - a reading young person. โThe Great American READING LIST ๐บ๐ธ (according to me)
My biggest advice: read original documents from the founding era, and define their words with their contemporary dictionary.
Here's the list with links๐๐ป docs.google.com/spreadsheets/dโฆ

So true. That is one reason why the education system sucks.

Ah, then let me respond to your actual points:
Books are not obsolete because they can not be altered easily. They are bulky and flammable, and one is sadly limited to the number one can own.
