The media's defense runs straight into the states' own argument: if centralized voter data creates unacceptable security risks when held by the federal government, a foreign adversary compiling the same 200 million records into one database is a national security problem, not a non-story. A foreign intelligence service with large-scale voter registration data could use it for influence operations, targeting, profiling, or other intelligence purposes.
Public data includes name, address, registration affiliation. It doesn’t include who was voted for.
The after record likely includes the voting record…which it should not…being a “secret ballot” and all.
But we all know the gov goes too far and infringes on the constitution. As they say form 4473 is destroyed but we know firearm shops keep them. And the BATFE Hoovers them up when shops close or they “need” the records for some illegal reason.
What if in the process we learn that they have created a profile everyone with how they vote, what they buy and sell, and what they own. If that data is sold on the black market and it is bought and sold by governments around the world that would be a big scandal.
That would be a huge blow to the deep state apparatus being a shadow government underneath it all.
We need to fight them because it is too sensitive for a communist country to have all our information, who the hell are they to have my information plus the friking media is saying is not big deal. I really want to grab everyone of them with my bare hands, I am so mad right now.

Do you honestly think that info doesn't exist? Do you think anything we do is private? Where are you from? Where have you been?
The issue is that it is compiled together to build a profile beyond what is public domain and available to anyone.
Knowing what you voted for is beyond public domain. What land property you purchases is in public domain.
