Are they doing the same trick with book sales. Buying boatloads of them themselves and calling it NY bestseller hit?
It reminds me of the movie: Les uns et les autres. A former werhmaht soldier stationed in paris after the war comes to perform a piano concert. When he comes up, the sees the whole theater empty.
I worked for a huge wealthy supporter of Michelle Obama at the time she had wrote that book becoming Michelle Obama and all over every type of news entertainment medium they were reporting that she had sold a million dollars worth of books or some shit like that the person's house that we were remodeling was 45,000 square feet and the basement was filled with about a quarter million dollars worth of Michelle Obama books that were brand new in boxes so yeah it's all a big fucking scam to scoot money around on the down low. And several times we heard her referring to the whole situation as in "no we pay full price for that because we know where the money goes" like it wasn't even her scam she was just given a big company sales deal that would offset the price and then told to do this to shuffle the money.
Just go to your local used bookstore and look in their clearance section. You'll find all of those political "fiction" books there. They make great kindling for your next bonfire and they're dirt cheap.
The claim is that The Odyssey studio is purchasing blocks of theater seats to create the illusion of sold-out showings and hide a $400 million deficit. Ticketbuyers report being assigned poor seats due to apparent capacity, only to find nearly empty auditoriums on arrival.
Disney has repeatedly pulled this trick. One reason beyond just saving face, is an attempt to juice future sales with word of mouth momentum about it being a big hit that everybody is seeing (it's akin to fixing political polls to induce compliance with the "popular" thing).
The biggest fraud was Captain Marvel, which without the boost never sees anywhere near a billion dollars.
NOTE: An explanation for the seat selection question is that whatever scalper based program they're using automatically buys the best seats of course.
The MSM articles on this are showing their hand with articles "owning the chuds" admitting the movie is woke and they won.
IMAX has been sold out 3 weeks into this from a year ago before anyone knew who was in this or what it was. It's going to drop off a cliff in 2 weeks. This will get spicy.
😵I haven’t gone to a movie in over twenty years ago, don’t even care if do ever again, hopefully AI can create a movie in a few hours and at a cost of 17 bucks

He plays anyway.

That's exactly what they are doing with book sales. The publishing industry (and your local big box bookstore) is in the same hole Hollywood is in.

<Be studio
<Make shitty woke movie
<Shit sales follow
<Buy tickets yourself to boost numbers but don't actually use the seats
<BUY ALL THE BEST SEATS.
This is too good.
u/#minionpopcorn.
Hollywood is due for a "Palworld moment" where a newcomer indie studio absolutely destroys them in every way and breaks sale records and the Internet
Angel Studios?
I dunno... they need something truly fantastic to beat Hollywood
that feels like a way to flush good money after bad
It's all fake and gay.
I'm sorry, but those movie goers kinda have crap seats coming for going to a crap movie in the first place.
Hollywood thought they could get away with this.
I’d never know because I wouldn’t go see it.
This is not the first time they've done this

Why do they buy the best seats? Why don't they buy the worst seats and let legit moviegoers get the best seats?
they'll move to the nice seats when the movie starts anyway if they have any sense.
More obviously shenanigans that way.
Also, whatever scalper based program they're using probably does that automatically.
