I have opened 5 plus accounts in the last 4 years. Total pain for an American, maybe they are treating illegals different. I had to prove identity, SSN, and home address through a bill, at least.
The business accounts take even more.
If they collected all that info on every customer the "red flags" could be narrowed down very quickly.
My passport proves citizenship and my drivers license proves residency.
I have no interest in ID’ing myself to a bank teller. Show me the actual, enacted statute that requires me to do so. Not an EO, not a PDD nor some bullshit regulation; an actual statute.
Social security is such a pain in the ass to change ACH accounts. They quote three months but they usually get it done in two. I had a checking account compromised in January and it was April before everything got moved.
Anybody else remember circa 1980s when you essentially needed a notarized letter from Congress to do practically ANY type of banking - AND they were only open 9-3 every weekday - completely closed on the weekends and boy there sure were a LOT of bank holidays... and there was NO drive thru.
It's getting even WORSE than that now. Banks found guilty of "doing dirty deeds" via money laundering, banking traffickers etc - And now they're taking it out on their customers.
Want to make a deposit? Only those listed on the account can do it. Not your spouse, not your employee... only YOU.
Doing ANYTHING at all at the bank? ID PLUS insert your debit card to verify...IF you're in the lobby.
In the drive thru? Pfft - Download this app to your phone to "verify your account" fuck you nope
Sounds batshit crazy...but it's yet another big middle finger right in your face in an ENDLESS stream of, "Let's see how much more annoying, humiliating & complicated we can make the SIMPLEST OF TASKS* - From banking to ordering a fking sandwich...they want to peer in your anus and verify you're you...yeah? Well, who the F are YOU?
Keep pushing back on the machine EVERY chance you get.
What about Western Union or other wire transfer services that send money overseas?
There should be a limit. Up to $500 can be sent overseas (reasonable amount) total per month without requiring verified proof of citizenship. ID still required. That way, if someone is overseas and having a emergency... you can still send small amounts of cash to handle that emergency.
Anything more than that should require proof of citizenship to use the U.S. banking system or wire cash transfers.
Then do already
You understand the banks are in cahoot with the criminals, right?
Banks hate me, I have used my good credit to chase CC welcome bonuses, CB and 0 APR. I'm like the crack they can't resist
I only have relationship with one bank and that's because I need to have a safe deposit box.
Just one person carrying a balance, paying interest, cancels you out. It's like the casino. Some people win, but the casino always wins.
Not considering, it is going to happen.
Dude, that will be cool. I have passport.
ive been banking at the same credit union for about 40 years, and have zero interest in proving im a citizen to anyone

Start with the Bank of America.
I'll start with Chase and Citi
START WITH THE BIG 5 due to the fact that they handle "MORE FOREIGN" exchanges than the other banks!!!!!!!! Also, any bank NOT complying...
THEY LOOSE THEIR LISCENSE UNTIL THEY COMPLY OR THEY CLOSE THEIR DOORS!!!!!!!!!
Ha, I'm within walking distance of the two institutions I use, a bank and a credit union, so no skin off my nose.
I only use credit union. I have been doing that a long time.
I sometimes chase Welcome Bonuses by moving my direct deposits around (Job and SS)
You are smart.
