Oregonian here. I have seen two businesses backpedal new policies within hours of announcing them. Both posted on Facebook that they would be requiring vax passports in order to go maskless.

One went so far to say they would be providing wristbands once vax status was proven so they would know you've been checked and approved. That one business is very seasonal and was closed most of last year so they are in a dire financial state already; GoFundMe and auctions circulated to support them. 12 hours after announcing their wristband policy, they said they decided they won't open for the time being while they reassess. People were pissed, with a lot of people regretting having contributed to try to keep them afloat.

The other business changed their policy within 4 hours; they're back to requiring masks for all and won't be checking vax passports. They provide memberships to their business and I think they got a lot of requests to cancel memberships with that new passport policy (myself included).

Bottom line, both businesses were following Oregon's new 'requirements' to a T and they changed with public pushback. The only way to affect change is for the people to push the businesses who go along with these draconian policies.

You're being generous. There was no period at the end so it's just a bunch of words with random and incorrect punctuation.

I've wondered why the discount is always 66% off. Why not 45%? Surely people would still buy at almost half off and he keeps more $.

Blue state here and I stopped wearing a face diaper. Haven't been kicked out or questioned.

But as far as the "I'LL SUE YOU!!" part I'm not sure... they're still private businesses and can deny service if they so choose I'm afraid.

They lost this argument when they decided a private cake business could refuse service to a gay couple.

No joke: someone in my work meeting today said something along the lines of "people who are fully vaccinated should have to get a big V tattooed on their forehead." I work in the public sector.

Uhhhhh

A few universities here are mandating the vax but you can request medical, religious, or personal exemption. They're saying the personal exemption is just while waiting full FDA approval since it's on an EUA. Here's my concern: if you claim personal exemption now, then it gets approved, will they let you switch to medical or religious? Or will they challenge it on the basis that you should have requested one of those from the start if they were true?

Mine has said they're going to require it by September and we have to request an exemption (medical, religious, or personal). They're still working on the policy though so we will see if it is actually implemented or if they're hoping this threat is enough to increase vax numbers.

How did the parents even agree to this? Or do the researchers use their own kids? Either way... What the fuck?

You said: "you have to accommodate my disability per ADA." They said: "don't care, get out."

Well, if it ends here, nothing will change. The only way to initiate change is to hit them where it hurts (pocketbook) and follow thru with protecting your rights (lawsuit). Otherwise, they can continue saying they don't care and ignore the law for you and everyone else.

Similarly I feel like this could be a play by the police. "You want to defund us? Look what happens if we don't step in." But this is nutso PDX so I doubt it. They've just lost so many of the good cops thru attrition.
