If a person feels like a loser all their life, at some point they may just disregard the society they lose at and declare themselves a winner. That is a mental gymnasts most fundamental move. Children do this until they develop self respect. If a person loses self respect they may return to this trick and just become intoxicated and by it, and then addicted to it, with all the moral bankruptcy that comes with any addiction. Sad.
