Are coyotes the biggest predator that takes small animals? I ask because we have bobcats and mountain lions also, a couple other large cats but I don't remember them all. Ones that i hadn't heard alot about.
My trainer was saying that parvo is how they control the coyote population. So coyotes have it running rampant. When did that start? I just heard this last week but how long have coyotes been the target of it? Of course, I don't believe that's a natural occurrence, just like I don't believe COVID is 'natural' and vaccines are good.
Your coyotes roam throughout town? Our coyotes still try to avoid humans. I catch them on my game cams and I have seen one a couple times in my pasture.

I don't know why the loss of a dog just hits different. I have several labs that run in hunt competitions, and are bird hunting dogs. Last Tuesday, one of the competition dogs passed unexpectedly. She was in perfect health, as far as we know. The trainer talked to the vet who said it may have been a heart attack. Then this week, I see that the dog food I was sending him to feed her had it's toxicity levels tested and it was higher than the normal 'accepted' amounts of heavy metals. I believe now that my dog was poisoned to death through the dog food. The trainer buried her before he saw my request for the necropsy. The entire ordeal was traumatic for the trainer and for my husband and I. I was looking forward to her coming home. She was something special.
I never knew that the parvo virus was engineered through a lab. Figures though. The thing about parvo that scares me is that once its been at a home, a yard, etc.... It's always there. It never leaves.
We fought it for a 3-4 days. How often are you injecting him with saline? Is he still throwing up? If yes, I wouldn't give him anything orally. If he is drinking on his own and not throwing up, then add some shredded chicken and/or baby rice cereal with his pedialyte so he can get his strength back.
We didn't try a whole lot of other things besides saline. When our lab was sick, my daughters took shifts staying up with him, they gave him 20 cc's of saline every two - four hours depending on how fast his body absorbed the fluids. One daughter would take the day shift; the other daughter took the night shift. It was an entire ordeal. We weren't sure he would make it.

@MudPuddlePie Use Saline Solution. You can buy it online.You MUST inject about 20cc's just underneath the skin. This prevents the puppy from getting dehydrated. You will have to do this about every 2 to 4 hours until the puppy starts drinking on its own. DO NOT GIVE ORALLY. The puppy will just throw it up.
I had a 2 yr old vaccinated Lab get Parvo. We almost lost him. This is the only thing that saved him. Its what the ER vet did and I just followed what I saw.
Once he started drinking on his own, we gave him pedialyte - unflavored. I am sorry to hear about your puppy.
Hello - I really appreciate your approach on Christmas. I like all the homemade ideas. Here are mine - I am going to make sour dough starter and gift that to some friends who would appreciate it. I have a herb garden so I will dry out some herbs and gift fresh herbs. For all my children, I am making Christmas PJ pants. I will be gifting things like an aerogarden (a garden that can be grown inside their house) or a water pitcher that purifies more than a Brita does (I don't recall the name right now). I am also going to can apple sauce. Its a favorite in my family. For my grandchildren - I made aprons, bought rubber spatulas, whisks, and spoons... little ones - they were not expensive. Then included a homemade cookie mix, cake batter, etc... so they could bake with their momma.
I have been growing my own garden. Its still going pretty strong. It was an amazing feeling to harvest potatoes so I could make potato soup. I also raise chickens. Pigs. I will have cows soon. We also hunt deer and duck. I will have a fruit tree orchard, right now I have peaches, and cherries. My lemon and orange tree died...when my cow ate it.
I love to shop local whether its my farmers market or the small boutique in town. I will use second hand stuff when I can. Its not that simple to just go totally independent. It has taken me quite some time.

I suggested this (making her own baby formula) to a woman looking for baby formula for her grandbaby. A mutual nurse friend said that there was a spike in infant ER visits (at the hospital she works at) due to mothers making their own formula. Also, I learned that in some recipes there is Karo Syrup. Apparently, Karo Syrup can be bad for babies. The general consensus was that goats milk was a better alternative.

Through a GW post, I deduced that there is a threat against the US (Big Scary event that will happen). I presume the electrical grids and internet will be hit (10 days of darkness per Q) from one of our enemies (Pompeo said our enemies are Iran, Venezuela and China) probably China because Biden is most compromised by them. the locations of the targets aren’t 100% confirmed. They are waiting for the enemy to make a mistake.
