My understanding is that any Wi-Fi, including but not limited to 5G, spies on you.
The 5G is a higher resolution spy sonar camera. Think of 1G has a VHS spy camera compare to Blu-ray spy camera.
If you need stronger privacy, I suggest a router WITHOUT any Wi-Fi.

put custom firmware on a buffalo router
Nice move. Custom firmware are stronger security than most built-in firmware. Assuming the code of the firmware is Libre Source (Open Source).
For those not familiar with firmware mumbo jumbo, it's the software stored inside each router. For stronger security, it is important to update it periodically. Same for any devices.

2. Protect your DAILY MEANS OF EXCHANGE
During financial risks, in the past successful people did NOT buy gold or silver for their daily means of exchange or savings. Instead, successful people switched to BARTERING for the stuff people actually needed daily. Such as food, clothing, shelter, cutlery, and so on.
