A little update on my orphan lamb I got a couple of weeks ago. Theodore is going great guns. He's grown heaps ,he's drinking a whole bottle 5 times a day ,started nibbling grass and I've introduced some hard feed this morning which he cleaned up. He tears around the yard but makes me laugh as he hops like a deer sometimes. He bucks and plays but I'm sure he thinks he's a dog as the blue heeler adores him and plays with him. They are best mates. So from a half dead lamb when he came here he's not doing too badly at all.
My vets have used xyalzine as a heavy sedation for horses for years.A few ml of it and it knocks a 500 kg horse into lala land within minutes ,dread to think what it does to humans. No wonder they're calling it the zombie drug.
He's pretty cute I have to admit.I've fed orphan foals, calves ,kittens and puppies but never a lamb. He was pretty hollowed in the flanks and dehydrated when he dropped him off this afternoon but he's had a few feeds and has brightened up and is looking a lot better now.
So I have a new addition. A friend who's a shearer turns up with an orphan lamb today. Don't know if it's mum abandoned it ,it was a twin and she's left it and taken the other one or she passed . The farmer didn't have time to bottle feed it , so guess what I'm doing tonight. How I get conned into these things I don't know. I've named him Theodore.
I'm lucky I have a supplier who is only a couple of towns away so she posts stuff and it's here the next day so I get the dried leaves from her. I get a lot of stuff from her and she's always very fast at sending to me. I've just managed to get hold of some Moringa seeds to have a go at growing my own plants.
Husband said we didn't need another dog so we are getting a new dog . Dog is flying in from other side of the country tomorrow . I've got a 7 hour round trip to go pick him up from the airport. As much as hubby grumbles he's really a big softy at heart.
Talking about wool ,you would have loved the wool we were handling a couple of weekends ago FractilizingIron. The wool classer said it was the best he's seen in a very long time. 21 micron ,needed barely any skirting and only the very tips of it were discoloured. It was so soft. I'd love a jumper out of it .
