How can one interpret this as dooming? Unless you specifically are relegated to just being a cheerleader, then discussion about reality is appropriate. We aren't culty like weak people.
That's why kids today are doing so well I think. Their parents did the right parenting and it mitigated most of the things that aren't great for them.
