This is awesome. I am going to download when I get home.
"Stay safe" is classic.
It is tragedies like this that I think of whenever someone says enjoy the movie
Lots of real people are really suffering. There's no movie here to enjoy.
Revelation 8:4 is interesting. I will pray and research. Thank you for taking the time to try to help me understand this.
I accept the idea of prayer requests for the living, however, none of those passages say anything about bringing our prayers to saints or angels.
I have yet to see any scriptural support. The whole point of salvation was that we could now go to God directly. God sacrificed his only son so that we could have salvation. The Bible tells me i can come to him in prayer. God says he will hear my prayers. There is nothing that you can't bring to God in prayer so why would you possibly take it anybody else? I can accept that this is maybe not blasphemy but at the very least this is disrespectful. God sacrificed his son so that you could come directly to him and not be dependent upon a priest.
Thank you for the discussion. I hope we both grow in Christ.
Thank you for this reply. And I accept that the saints have a part to play here, but nowhere in the verses you provided, does it say the saints bring our prayers to God.
And still not one word of scripture showing me to be praying to saints and angels.
May we both grow in Christ's love.
All I'm asking for is biblical proof that we should be praying to saints and angels and you're calling me out as a troll?
All I'm asking for is a Bible verse that says we are to pray to saints and angels. Not asking for some fancy retranslation. No documented miracles here. Just some scripture. You can't show me because it's not there.
I have nothing but respect for her. Why do people keep saying we are disrespecting her?
We have a physical relationship with the people around us and that is why prayer requests are appropriate. We should not be communicating with or maintaining a relationship with any being in the spirit realm other than Jesus Christ.
Show me in the scriptures where it says to pray to angels and saints and then I will recant my statement. Bonus points for any commentary on idolatry. Otherwise, if you see a brother or sister straying from the path of righteousness, it is your duty as a Christian to try to correct that behavior.
God gave his only son in sacrifice to us so that we could have salvation through him. It is through Christ that we come to God. Christ is the only thing between you and God. There is no priest, no saint, or angel between you and God. That is the gift of salvation. Why would you put anything between you and God?
I believe Satan would approve of anything that muddy's the waters between God's children and God. So yes, if Satan can lead some of God's children away he wins.
Nothing in the scriptures tells me I need to pray to angels and saints. And the scriptures do give examples of proper prayer.
Prayer is a form of worship so...
"Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle..."is how that prayer starts. Not. Saint Michael, ask God to defend us in battle. This is a prayer too Saint Michael, and nothing in the scripture leads me to believe that I need anyone other than Jesus Christ to intercede on my behalf.
Elijah Elijah Moses Old testament New testament is Christ. With the New testament, we do not need a priest to intercede on our behalf. We can go directly to Christ.
I am trying to educate myself. Please show me where in the Bible it says I am to pray to saints and angels. Or for that matter carry around a rosary.
As far as I know, the Bible does not ask me to pray to an angel or a saint. Praying for someone is not the same as praying too someone. False equivalency.
Thank you for taking the time to answer me, with the subject like this, it's often hard to have discussion. I understand what you've said. However, I don't understand how that squares with the teachings of the Bible.
Thank you.
