I don't necessarily agree, but I don't disagree either.
A lot of the best scientists in history were religious to some degree and science shouldn't be pitted against religion. That has been a deliberate move throughout more recent history.
Religion is not a necessity for one to have morals.
I absolutely agree, but the point I was making is that by specifically acting in direct opposition to the religions that have shaped our morals for thousands of years you are more likely to toss those morals away.
You need only look at the people who oppose everything that Christianity stands for no matter how much they debase themselves or everyone and everything around them, because they grew up in a family that thumped them too hard with the Bible.
The "half" of the country that hates Christianity is running around grooming children, getting rid of self agency, and so many other things.
There are other people who are better able to quantify into words what religious morals have guided this country at its foundation, so I'll leave that bit to them.
Linux Mint is pretty mint for sure.
For gamers, last I checked Nobara is still one of the better distros for plug and play though any game with an anticheat will likely screw you over unless they explicitly whitelist Linux. Another option is what it is built off of, Fedora or Bazzite. Bazzite seems to be more up and coming in this space, as it seems to do a better job handling what Fedora sets out to do (as it is also built on Fedora).
All of these work for workstation use, although the inclusion of gaming related software (Steam, Lutris, etc.) would just be bloat if that's your main use case.
I'm not personally team Balena Etcher though, I tend to prefer Ventoy since I keep OS backups for Windows, Linux (especially SteamOS) etc. on it and Ventoy is a simple drag and drop process, and lets you use the stick for things outside of being a bootable disk.
For Mint vs Ubuntu though, a lot of prevailing opinion seems to generally be that Mint is flat out better for most average users. It's been a minute since I looked in on those conversations, but a quick search seems to yield basically the same sentiments.
I don't think average users can go wrong with Mint.
Linux not yet 100% viable for some applications due to compatibility issues, even less so if you have an OEM PC like a laptop or something you get off the rack just to have.
But Linux focused developers make it a better experience every day.
I'd suggest dual booting before jumping in, but... That yields a lot of issues that you have to fix manually.
Regardless, everyone should look to see if Linux is right for them. It can feel weird and take some getting used to if all you've done is Windows, but there's also a lot more you can do to make it feel more personalized.
It still surprises me that companies will use Windows on large scale deployments like this.
But what surprises me more is that none of these companies thought "huh, backups would be really smart just in case something goes stupidly wrong."
This has to be a joke, right?
The line where they were okay with a husk that had no thought, he just needed to exist to beat orange man.
He is spot on. This is why our country was founded on religious morals, but allowed people to have the freedom not to be, unlike the middle ages.
The idea is that believing something good, having something that everyone can agree is good, helps guide our hands and our feet to making good happen.
It's why the people who loudly proclaim themselves as Atheist (capitalized for emphasis, as this has become a new deity to them) are generally directly in opposition of the values our country was founded on.
Then those Atheists try to point at priests and whatnot who end up in the positions and use that position to commit evil as a reason for why religions are all evil.
They're not. Any religion that can preach peace in the face of opposition, violence, false prophets, cannot be evil.
Even if you do not believe personally -- or even if you find yourself more agnostic and feel like you should respect it in spite of a lack of the proof you're looking for -- if you can at least rationalize and understand that the messaging is good, the morals are worth listening to, you can use that to form a solid moral foundation and accomplish great things.
Rather than directly opposing the flow of the river until it overflows, you can walk alongside it until you reach your destination.
I swear at this point they're trying to manifest it into existence
Well, they do have entire covens of witches on their side!
I hope not, I really want them to own the "corporeal presence" bit. But in the event I'm wrong, I just wanted to have a post on here admitting it since I've been insisting that it can't happen.
Did not expect them to actually take Biden out of the race. That is an even bigger risk in a lot of ways.
I'll preemptively apologize for being wrong to everyone who insisted if that comes to pass this weekend.
Wild gamble on their part, especially since it validates what everyone has been saying.
So much for just needing his corporeal presence.
Edit: AHA LOOKS LIKE BIDEN STAYIN' IN LET'S GO BRANDON ETC. ETC. TRUMP 2024!
I'm sure it depends, but Judicial Watch is Tom Fitton.
Once upon a time, when mods were forcing us to move to the new domain off of Reddit, one man was showing his guns with new posts. One man was white listed to keep fighting.
That man? Tom Fitton.
This was posted on Patriots and locked and I have no idea why.
3 minutes, 26 minutes, an hour...a day... A week... They groomed him 2 years ago..
Conservation of energy means that anything that comes within a very specific radius of Trump loses its brakes and connection to gravity and drag.
Things like this is why even Tim Pool used the words "inside job" last night.
Their reactions simply do not make sense.
Yeah, it's a based position to designate them as terrorist organizations.
But it would've been better not to say this right now.
Yeah, as a question of philosophy people miss the real point of it.
It's not a black and white quandary; it's not "yeah it's Hitler, I'll kill him" nor is it "it's a baby, I won't kill him."
There are so many different answers to this that are available within the framework of the question, and so many people let their brain go smooth and don't go beneath the surface.
Maybe I can forgive people like Kyle.
There are some beyond my capacity for forgiveness and I won't apologize.
Destiny is one of those people. Even Piers was disgusted with how gleeful he is about this, and the glorification that a man -- a hero -- died is just beyond my capacity to forgive.
I also maintain that teachers should not be allowed to teach children, even if they apologize after the fact because they finally see consequences.
There is stupidity...then there is evil.
Let's get one thing totally clear:
"In control" and "watching a movie" doesn't mean that they are the ones performing everything.
"These people are stupid", "moves and countermoves", these statements show that they are being goaded into making moves or counter moves that align with the intended script. It also doesn't mean that they won't deviate from the script to escape it, which Q is expected to have contingencies for.
This is something that for some reason is more commonly understood in other boards where these discussions take place, but for some reason here people continue to insist that everything is performed by the white hats and act like the other side isn't in play.
They've always been in play. They are just made to march to the tune of the good guys whether they want to or not.
I miss the days when people weren't so silly about this.
There should have been an active shooter protocol the moment he was seen, as he was seen and reported ahead of time.
Well, seems several of our own agree with you. Still, why are you here?
Their strategy is to dehumanize, then attack.
Personally I've still never been about the baby Hitler quandary. Maybe that's why my moral compass ends up being so firm on some things.
I could never kill an innocent baby, even knowing what crimes he would commit.
If I had the power to affect the past in such a way, why not deflect him off that course? Why not work to avoid the events that changed him into what he became?
It's easy to choose a simple solution when you can just dehumanize someone until you can perform sufficient mental gymnastics to justify heinous acts.
Divine intervention makes the most sense, and it's not hard for any believer to come to that conclusion.
That is a really weird thing to ask.
Yeah, Mint and Bazzite in particular sound like some of the better installation experiences I've seen from Linux.
I had a few problems from Nobara, and Wayland always gave me problems on desktop that I couldn't successfully rid myself of and at the time IIRC Wayland was the only thing that worked properly with GSync/FreeSync, or it was driver related issues with the RTX 4090 which is not uncommon with Linux.
Hilariously, I think Thinkpads are probably still one of the favorites for installing Linux on when it comes to workstation / every day use.
I'm riding my Windows 7 key out until Microsoft finally tries to make me pay directly for it, and then I'll probably end up jumping to Bazzite for my personal PC personally. Provided that everything functions properly which is a hit or miss on high end components.
Linux is probably one of my favorite OS platforms to look at, KDE Plasma and Gnome are both pretty damn neat with so many options.
Cinnamon (the most popular desktop environment for Mint, apparently) also looks close enough to Windows that I would be inclined to agree that transition should be pretty smooth in terms of visual familiarity.
Yes I may be nerding out right now about Linux and I definitely don't have 20 different tabs open catching up on things that have changed since I last used it.
