Look how the numbers changed when Trump took office.

Might be interesting to cross reference the shooting dates to the news....
This is the part that I have a hard time wrapping my head around. You could literally have almost anything you want - and this is the path you decided on traveling?
If I won the lottery tomorrow, other than quitting my job and setting my family up, I don't think my life would change all that much. I definitely would not be seeking the company of these assholes.
Late 90s, I took a trip to DC - work junket and I took my parents as my dad had been stationed at Fort Ritchie in the late 60s and they had never been back. Plane was delayed and we did not land at Dulles until 1AM. Hotel was the Willard which is right by the WH so taking the car in, we went by a lot if the major monuments. The lights do not go out like that. At the time they were doing work on the exterior of the Washington Monument and it had all of the scaffolding around it. It was still lit up.
I can go either way wirh this. Yes, the shoes look similar in terms of design, but having spent many years in heels, you definitely have your comfortable and practical pairs and then you have your pretty and uncomfortable pairs. On the outside they can look simillar, but the inside can be starkly different. I won't buy shoes online or from a catalogue because of this - not all pumps are created equal.
The teal pair someone mentioned looks to be satin - satin gets beat up pretty quickly so likely they are newer and/or not broken in. Even if it is not satin, that is not a common color and it is obvious it was chosen to match the outfit - again, unlikely they are worn a lot. The tan pair looks more 'everyday'.
(Melania wore some serious shoes all the time. I know few women who could handle the heels that she wore on a regular basis.)
I know a couple of people that died in the early 1990s - guy I want to high school with and the other two were co-workers. It was a horrific death. The guy I went to high school with in his last days could only manage liquid Jello. Must have been about mid 20s. Very sad.
I read a book on the WH a couple of years ago - about the staff who keep the house running. Butlers, cooks, etc. It does happen very quickly. Not sure about the wallpaper but the rugs, draperies, furniture, etc. - that is all ready to go and they switch everything out during the inauguration.
(Actually was a great book. It interviewed the people about their experiences in the jobs and their interactions with the different presidents. One maid told a story of walking in to clean the Reagan's bedroom not realizing he was there. He was reading a newspaper and apparently had just gotten out of the shower and was au natural. He was surprised, she was mortified and ran from the room. The next time she saw him, he apparently said 'hey, who was that guy the other day?' She was grateful that he was able to shrug it off but more importantly, put her at ease.)
This is something I tried to bring up in a different forum. My theory as I presented it:
"POTUS is generally considered the most powerful person on the planet. I think that has changed.
Biden may hold the title and therefore he does have access to the power of the office. But he is a weak man. DJT - even as a private citizen - still has tremendous power.
Consider this: if Biden said tomorrow "hey, lets have a rally!" - who would care? The guy can't fill a minivan. Oh sure, you would have SV/NYT/WAPO/CNN et al there. But they are the Bubble People. They would gush and coo and tell the world how much better it is now that everything is back to 'normal'. Normal meaning they control the message and therefore the agenda. Now if DJT says 'hey, let's have a rally!' tomorrow, thousands would be there. And I know there are people that would scream 'Hitler!!' and sneer that it is just a cult of personality. Perhaps. But one thing Trump accomplished was to really point out how little our political class cares for constituents compared to themselves. Look at the wealth of career politicians as an example.
But why the constant over the top reactions? Why this big push to impeach? Seriously, you won the trifecta - why not extend the olive branch in the name of unity? No, let's stir the pot even more! Keep the anger and division stoked! Why? Who benefits from this? It sure isn't the average American.
I see fear. Fear that citizens are starting to see that Oz is just a man behind the curtain. Fear that they are losing control if a way of life they very much want to keep. To paraphrase George Carlin, it's a big club, and we ain't in it. This is about punishment to make sure no one steps out of line again."
Yes I keep seeing the Concerntroll who pretends to play good cop. (Your family misses you.)
Then there is Giveuptroll (so what will it take for you to acknowledge Q isn't real.) Except it is phrased like a bad sales pitch. 'What will it take to get you into this car today?' Actually, I should rename Giveuptroll Usedcartroll.
And you cannot blame Trump either if he is radio silent.
