Biden did not receive a Presidential 21-gun salute.
From my own findings here is what I found that I didn't see in the article above: During ceremonies, the platoon fires 3-inch antitank guns mounted on a 105-mm howitzer chassis. Only two were fired for Biden. The intervals were not 3-8 seconds. That was not a standard Presidential 21 Gun Salute.
Here is every televised Presidential inauguration going back as far as I could find on Youtube. In every single one, the incoming President receives a 21 gun salute immediately following his oath. Biden did not.
Note: Every link is queued up for your convenience. Except for Carter, the guns are always shown. And in all cases, you can hear the guns ... ALL EXCEPT BIDEN.

Here are wreath layings from multiple presidents. Biden doesn't lay his. The only evidence I have of other Presidents not laying a wreath are when they arrive on holidays (memorial/veterans day) when a wreath was already laid whether they showed up or not (Trump famously was 30 min late to one.)

Not only that, but foreign dignitaries can receive 21 gun salutes when visiting installations... such as Arlington National Cemetery. But what's the difference between a presidential salute and a foreign dignitary's salute?

As I have noted with another reasonable skeptic, just because you've found one set of regs does not mean you've found them all. These things are layered like onions and the less general they are the harder they are to find. This could be an Arlington thing, a 3rd Infantry thing, a revised doctrine thing, who knows what.

Another big difference is that the 21 gun salute for Presidents are done at the capital. You see it in the video for President Trump's inauguration.
Bi Den's salute was in Arlington cemetery. The salute they did for Bi Den is more consistent with a funeral, not an inauguration.
The demoncraps just pretended that the funeral salute was for Bi Den's fake inauguration.

It should be pointed out that Arlington is not part of the District of Columbia, aka Washington, DC. It is part of Virginia, USA. If Xiden is not POTUS, but a foreign diplomat/envoy from DC to the United States, it'd make sense he'd only get 17 guns and delayed, when he visited American soil.
Military always does things by the book. They don't slip up. This was intentional. They were telegraphing, amongst themselves and to everyone who understood this significance.

It is supposed to be 3 second unless.... And none of the "unless" apply, and certainly not for a presidential 21 gun salute!
MSM is labeling that 3 gun (2 used, 1 as back up) video as the 21 gun salute by starting it right as they begin and hoping you assume the first 11 shots were cut off, but the incorrect timing and incorrect number of guns is a dead giveaway.

So I've finished up looking into this. Here is the simple to follow conclusion (trust me):
1: Every single President (except Biden) received a 21 gun salute IMMEDIATELY following their oath - Link to comment
2: The Presidential 21 gun salute is in a 3+1 gun configuration (three guns fire, one extra is reserved in case of failure), fired at 3 second intervals
3: 21 gun salutes are also given to foreign dignitaries - Table 3-1
4: Foreign dignitaries, such as Jordan's Secretary of Defense received one when visiting Arlington National Cemetary
5: As seen previous, that 21 gun salute was performed with a 2+1 gun configuration, with 9 second intervals
6: Biden visiting Arlington National Cemetery was the only salute he received
7: That salute was a 2+1 gun configuration, with 9 second intervals, same as with a visiting foreign dignitary
8: When Obama visited the Arlington National Cemetery, he receive the Presidential 3+1 configuration, with 3 second intervals
Ergo Ipso Facto, Biden was not recognized, and therefore not saluted as the United States President at the 'inauguration', and was received at Arlington National Cemetery as though he were a foreign dignitary.

Just because you find some regs does not mean you've found all the regs. Those things are nested like onions and absence of evidence is not evidence of absence - it's not evidence that no additional guidelines exist.
Find me cases of foreign dignitaries arriving at Arlington receiving 3+1@3sec and I'll reconsider. Find me a POTUS other than Biden receiving a 2+1@9sec and I'll reconsider.

Looks like this was a ceremonial salute, defined by the wreath laying - no matter who does it.

I think I might just be missing your point, but to me the interval is of no interest, because the number of shots don't indicate a presidential salute to begin with.
First: By now I've learned that I was wrong in assuming that they ignored Biden completely. The salute at the cemetery met all criteria for the one given to foreign dignitaries, when they lay a wreath at the tomb.
Re fake news: Well, we know that they got it wrong. Question is why. On purpose for the narrative or - I would believe that in a second - don't they know themselves? MSM people are mostly lefties; how much does your average lefty know about military protocol? Not much, if anything at all.
Is the presidential salute required? I don't know. I don't think so. It just bears a - as we are seeing now - heavy message of disapproval, if not done.
The part that lead me to focus on the number of shots is from the Arlington Cemetery's website.

This rather clearly states that the 21 shots version honors the president (amongst others). What's also made clear is that any variation (less than 21) is used for foreign persons; in any case, never for the president.
The location, i.e. not at the Capitol, is a separate clue, but as far as I can tell defined by tradition, only. I wouldn't be surprised if the synchronization with the band playing "Hail to the Chief" also plays a symbolic role. You know, hailing, saluting... very similar actions.

This is what I would say is tangible proof something is not right along with . Marines not saluting Biden, Trump's last speech at Andrews with all the flags in gold fringe, His plane not being designated AF1 when he was flying from Andrews to West Palm. I look at what we can see and try not to get into the minutia. There are a lot more but these things show that POSSIBLY the military is in control not Biden. Also, Trump working really hard at distancing himself from everything so IF shit goes down it won't look like he's part of it.

Can someone help me out on asimilar post yesterday regarding salute for foreign dignitary or funeral. Said it was a 10 gun salute with incorrect timing intervals. Looked at older Army pub. regarding salutes and can not find such. 11 gun is fewest number I see.
They have to be odd numbered, from something I dug up yesterday, it's in the regs (or the wiki article)
The truth, Here is both Bushes inauguration queued up. You can hear, and see the guns giving them the 21 gun salute. Not so with Biden. No guns at all. Can't see them, can't hear them. The 'salute' at Arlington was standard for foreign dignitaries visiting.

Just a thought that makes a lot of sense. Suppose that because of the location they only had 3 guns available or able to fit where they were located. So they have 1 gun assigned for backup in case one fails. Because there are only 2 guns being used they couldn't fire in the normal 3 second interval because they had to have time to load so the interval was longer. Then as far as the number of shots fired I don't know since most of the footage is incomplete.
They used every single gun during trumps innaug. They do not need a backup gun. They fired at extremely long intervals in purpose.
