You’re faith should only be in the fact that God had a plan from the beginning of time to redeem us from our sins through the works of the cross. God made no other earthly promises to us.

Righteousness is imputed to you once you believe the Gospel. It can only come from Christ. There's nothing you can do to achieve righteousness in the eyes of God beyond believing the Gospel, no matter how good, honest or humble you are.
Romans 4:22-25 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
Always ask: who was writing, when we’re they writing and who were they writing to.
