You should ask God fren. Say a prayer ask him to guide you. Open to wherever you open and start reading. When I do this, and what I read makes perfect sense and fits with my current questions I know God is real. Give it a try. Clear your mind, speak to our father, ask him to teach you of his Son and he will.
He has extended his offer of grace to you, it is now up to you to repent of your sins and ask Him to forgive them, in Christ's name. What a beautiful journey you will begin.
There are 31 Proverbs. Can read a chapter or just a few Proverbs a day, then a Psalm if you'd like (121 is my favorite), then something from New Testament, like John or Romans.
The story of Daniel and the writing on the wall. Almost immediately after Daniel interpreted the writing on the wall for King Belshazzar, the entire Babylonia empire fell in 1 night. 1 night! They were invaded by the combined forces of the Medes and Persians. This was, no doubt, arranged by God.
Dan 5:24-31
Just remember that God can cause the overnight fall of one of the greatest empires in history. All of the events taking place right now are fully under his mighty hand.
God bless you. I’ll admit, I haven’t read all of the Bible myself either. Personally, I prefer to read the Bible on the Bible App on my phone. I can access multiple different versions and you even get a different Bible quote from the app every day. I like to read it in the ‘Easy’ version, which is essentially modern day English. The KJV is too complicated and hard to follow for me.
Other's have suggested chapters to read but dont forget to find a church! I will also recommend Pastor John MacArthur as a good source of info, can find on youtube or his "Grace to You" app
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. -Matthew 7:7-8
I ask Holy Spirit to inspire you and I bless you.
For what it's worth, I think John's gospel is extremely powerful. I like to read through the gospels a couple chapters and get a chapter or two of Psalms and Proverbs a day.
Do what you feel led to do though. He can speak to you no matter where you're reading.
I started rereading the story of David about a week or so ago. Start around 1st Samuel 16.
Psalms are good, too.
A lot of people, my church included, also just does the 1 Year Bible, and, honestly, for a beginner that's probably the best since it'll take you on a journey thru the Bible in a year with a Psalm, OT, NT, and Proverbs daily.
Read the entire gospel of John. It’s not terribly long, but it shows Jesus doing a lot of good for Isreal, only to be hunted down by the deep state of their time, betrayed by essentially all of his close confidants, and executed in the ultimate miscarriage of justice of all time.
And wins anyway, in a way that blew everyone’s minds and changed the world forever.
Also, the old testament -- when David is being persecuted by his enemies, Psalms. But here's the thing about the Bible:
When you need divine guidance and assurance, close your eyes and open your Bible to a random page and read it. It's the message GOD is directing you toward.
One of the oldest questions humankind has been asking is, “How can I know God?” The question is a valid one. What is He like? What can we do to please Him? How can we get to Heaven? If we work hard enough to be a good enough person will He accept us then? If we do enough religious activities to get His attention, will that do it?
Fortunately for us, the answer is surprisingly simple. The “Gospel” that the Bible talks about literally means, “the Good News,” and the news is good indeed!
First, we have to start at the beginning. In Genesis 1:26, when God created the first humans, He said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness”, then God blessed them and spent the days walking and talking with the people He had created. In short, life was good.
But why isn’t life like that anymore? What happened to mess everything up? This brings us to the second point: when we (humankind) chose to do the opposite of what God told us, sin poisoned the world. Sin separated us from God, and everything changed. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” and in Isaiah 59:2 we’re told, “your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear.”
This is especially bad news because there is no way for us to get across that gap on our own. We (humankind) have tried to find our way back to God and a perfect world on our own ever since then, and without any luck. We try to get there by being good people, or through religion, money, morality, philosophy, education, or any number of other ways, but eventually we find out that none of it works. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 14:12).
There is only one way to find peace with God, and the Bible says it is through Jesus Christ. We were stranded without any way of getting back to our Creator, and we needed a way to pay for our sins and be clean again so that we could be welcomed back to be with Him. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
So this is the Good News—that even though we were still enemies of God (as one translation says), Jesus came to die on the cross and pay the price for our sins so that we could have a relationship with Him again. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
What then should be our reaction to this awesome news? This brings us to the last and most important part. John 5:24 says, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” Jesus Christ himself even says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10), and Romans 5:1 says, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
So how can I have peace with God, life to the full, and be confident of eternal life like these verses say? First, through an honest prayer to God, I have to admit that I’m not perfect—that I can’t escape my sins, and I can’t save myself. I follow this admission by believing that Jesus Christ died for me on the cross and rose from the grave, conquering death and sin. Then I invite Jesus Christ to live in me and be the Lord of my life, accepting His free gift of eternal life with Him.
The prayer can go something like this:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and my life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Through faith in You I now have eternal life. In Your holy name I pray Lord Jesus. Amen."
There is nothing magical about these words. It’s not the words themselves that make things right between you and God—it’s whether or not your heart really means it. We know this because in 1 Samuel 16:7, the Bible says, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
The best part of this whole process is that it doesn’t matter how badly we’ve messed up, Jesus is powerful enough to save anyone from their sins—even the worst of us. Romans 10:13 says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." That’s fantastic news—no matter how badly we’ve messed up, we can place our complete trust in Jesus, and He will wipe all of our sins off the face of the earth. Jesus is the bridge to life.

Agreed. Just opening your Bible and start reading can work too, and if nothing clicks jump to another spot and do the same.
This always works for me too. Showed me that the Holy Bible truly is the living word.
The book of Romans is a great place to start for the time period we are in.
So I'm still on my way back to Christ

Psalms in general is very relevant to current events. I'd recommend starting with Psalm 1 and reading on.

Ephesians 6. Second half of the chapter is appropriate.

The Psalms have always been a great source of strength for me. They are beautifully written (actually “songs”) and are full of hope and inspiration.
Matthew!
Here is a little teaser:

2ND CORINTHIANS
It has the single most powerful verse in the entire Scripture, reply to me if you dont notice it yourself
I would start with the Gospels and then Psalms and Proverbs. God Bless...
Google passages about communism and the communists. They’re all accurate
The Gospel of John, so much about the Light of the LORD.
I'd just read The Passion probably, into Acts. Don't have verse numbers off hand for you but that shouldn't be too hard to find either.
Personally, I read the NLT.
