The IRS has incredibly little enforcement that could be overwhelmed quite easily with a coordinated NON-VIOLENT paperwork attack that would spin their servers silly like stuxnet.
I wish everyone were down for a tax revolt. The government would react in the most violent ways we've never seen before if people actually started starving the leviathan.
Do you think the IRS would be staffed to go through half of America not paying their taxes? (honest question) I'm curious to see what that mess would look like LOL
It won't matter what your income was (because you can make up anything)... and you can deduct whatever you want... then the results are sent to Germany and Spain and Bosnia for editing...
... and then your tax filing comes back to the U.S. with whatever results you wanted.
Ive heard rumblings not to file early if you owe taxes. That if this mythical plan is in action (which is more believable by the hour with everything happening around the world), then we may see the IRS dissolved sometime soon. No sauce. But holding off doesn't hurt anything and...what if?
This year they changed the way taxes are paid. I started a new job in June 2020 and the w4 looked weird and no tax was taken out of my first check. When I asked, he said the government changed the way they are handing federal taxes to lessen people getting big refunds next year....tack that on with all the other changes and it’s no surprise you owe money. My hubby changed his w4 to take extra out and hopefully it will make up for it....
I am a tax preparer, and most of my industry (forums I read) have been scratching our heads over the "new" w-4. Just remember your tax refund is an interest free loan to the government you probably bitch about. You should always owe at the end of the year (but keep it reasonable).
That was optional. I know because my employer kept withholding the payroll tax. I grumbled a bit, but then again, if it keeps me from writing checks, that's good. (Yes, I know all about not giving the Feds a free loan. I don't care.)
A) Covid relief is standard taxable income. Could push people who've had a job into a new tax bracket.
B) Trump froze income tax collection for a few months, but that income tax is still due, it just made it so people have to pay it now instead of it coming out of their paycheck.
C) ask again after the 20th,I can't file anything until robinhood gives me my tax statements, might be the same for lots of people who don't get statements until after the 15th.
I work on salary. Claim married 0
I still owed $5k after Trumps tax cut last year. How hard is it to deduct the correct amount to end up owing zero? My accountant told to have them take an extra $75 a week out and send it to the federal grifters to off set this happening again. I would suggest you have an accountant look into this for you.
Both federal and state, err don't wanna say the liability amount xD more than I wanna pay that's for sure! and yeah I received the 1200 stimulus in 2020. No legal spouse cause uncle sam shouldn't be involved in marriage anyways and I found out my liability when I was near the end of filing online.
Removed. Off topic. WARNING. Please join the discussion in the main daily thread. Thank you for understanding.
I think it's the "stimulus" checks. I think they are asking for it back.
ffs! I hope everyone at the IRS gets raped with a rusted pike.

The problem is, they would just garnish our wages, so it wouldn't matter.

Lol I'm not sure how that works or how much of that is automated???
I think we are there. But as BigFreedomBoner says, with NON-VIOLENT, coordinated paperwork.
We have CAUSE, do we not? Our “government” refuses to redress the many reasonable and lawful requests for due process concerning:
hearing evidence of election fraud
arbitrary “lockdowns” wiping out business without compensation
arbitrary medical “diktats” denying all opposing, science-based views
coordinated censorship across MSM/Big Tech to suppress the right of the people to seek redress
TBH, it should probably just be about a single point: the election
this ^^
File your taxes using DOMINION computers. :>)

HA! its crazy you mention that because the person I was venting to said the same thing. Just gonna hold off for now and see what happens in March..

better to owe than to give an interest-free loan to the govt.
It might be the payroll taxes that were deferred from one of trump executive orders.
Basically, because of Trump’s executive order, your employer didn’t deduct payroll taxes from your pay, and now you have t
My employer kept withholding despite the EO

Just the opposite. Year after year I've nearly broke even or owed a little. This year I'm getting around 5k back.
Happy for ya man. wish I were in your boat lol
Lol thanks. What it really means is in need to adjust my exemptions!

Covid was a refundable credit advance, how is that taxable income?
That’s like saying the EITC is taxable.
Maybe it has something to do with your state?
How is this Q related?
Same here! I usually get a few hundred back, this year I owe almost $1,500!!! WTF
Jesus christ! :(

Do you have state taxes where you live where they increase do you live where they burn the city down and they need you to pay more?
Na, that stuff didn't happen here. Rioters would actually be shot here lol and yeah we have a state tax though
