Houston will have an ice storm early Monday morning. We'll have about 12 hours of ice, and temperatures below freezing, then it will melt.
People are panic buying at the stores. Businesses will close 2 days in advance.
It's scary... almost like a mini mini ice-age.
In the past, cultures would sacrifice a virgin to a volcano to assuage the climate gods.
Is Greta Thunberg doing anything on Saturday?
We are entering a Solar Minimum phase. NOAA study says Mean Avg temps worldwide will drop 2-4 Centigrade.
The global Climate Change people won't listen to science business as usual
Fellow bigots, please help me initiate global warming as I don't like the cold. My thanks.
And Bill Gates is working on technology to block out the sun.
Because it’s not really about climate change. It’s about control and manipulating economies around the world.
President's Day, the storm is coming?

Shits crazy, gonna be ZERO degrees on Monday in TEXAS.
Al Gore can lick my anus.
Since we're talking weather: It's a balmy 80 degrees during the day here in Florida. I'm bummed because the temperatures are going into the 60s when I take a vacation to a northern Florida key next week. Sorry, I couldn't resist, but I'm sorry, panic buying happens when people have time to plan for weather emergencies. It's why I live in Florida where tornadoes are minor and hurricanes give us enough time to prepare and/or evacuate. And I think someone should look into the welfare of Greta. She is a child, right? Who are her influencers? Is she safe? Really. I mean it. We make fun of the little climate czar, but do we ever think that she could be a victim of abuse? Look who's she's forced to deal with.
Oregonian here in the i5 corridor. Ice storm hit last night. Everythings covered in a 2 to 5 mm sheet of ice with light freezing rain. We usually get a storm like this but its from a snowfall that melts then freezes. Not a storm out of nowhere. Lol.
Hello fellow houstonian. I'm in the med-center. A weird chemical spill happened today im front of one of the hospitals. Looked like snow but was closer to foam up close.
Where I live we had the ice storm of ‘94. We have same ice conditions plus 8 inches of snow coming. To the date is 17 years. 17 keeps popping up in random events. Not saying it is a coincidence but where I live, 17 is becoming a really weird part of our days
Greta is not a virgin. Her care takers or handlers did just that. Handled her.
There has ready been a pile up in ft worth due to ice.
I live in DFW. That wreck was horrible 150 cars were involved and I know at least 5 people died. My husband worked from home that day because the roads were bad and after seeing that horrible wreck, I was relieved.
We are expected to get a blizzard here this weekend and it won't get above freezing until Friday, so he may either be completely off work or working from home all next week. He works at a University, so if the school closes he doesn't have to work at all, but if it stays open then he will. I'm crossing my fingers the school closes so we can have a real snow day and go sledding on cardboard boxes and laundry baskets lol.
I live just north of DFW - also a life-long Texan. I would say that staying below freezing for longer than 3-4 days is a 20-30 year event. This one is 8 days minimum.
Remember Icemaggedon back in 2013 or 2014 where we invented cobblestone ice and everything was shut down for like a week. That was crazy! It has barely snowed since then. I bought sleds for my niece and nephews for Christmas after that happened and it's like I cursed them. It used to snow once or twice a year when I was growing up, but after I bought them sleds it never freaking snowed lol. They will finally get to use them after having them for about seven years!!!! Hahahaha
Lol. I grew up there...in the burbs in Bedford....and yes! Cardboard boxes were the way to go if we actually I iced! God i miss home. Glad your hubby got to stat home. My bro would have been on that route but he stayed home as well. The roads there are so scary and not ready one bit for ice.
Yup. Plus people here don't know how to drive on ice. My husband is a yankee, so he learned to drive on a hilly road in a 15 passenger van in icy conditions lol But down here none of us get to practice, so people drive 70mph on icy roads. So even though HE knows how to drive in it, I don't want him out with all the morons that have no idea. We did finally get brine trucks instead of sand trucks in some areas. I'll never forget the disaster the sand made on the roads during the Icepocalypse of 2013.
Hahaha and that reminds me. I grew up in a small town south of Dallas and my mom was driving once and saw our town's version of a sand truck. 2 guys in the back of a pickup truck filled with sand shoveling it on overpasses lol
The first Q I ask a Climate Change fanatic is...
When did the last Ice Age end?
Answer: It hasn't. We are in the short Non glacial period right now. The Glaciers will return and THAT's the real disaster.
Lol its like an ice age every year there! If only greta was tbe sacrifice hah!!
Houston area person here. I was here for the big freeze of 1989 where shit tons of pipes burst in Houston. (pipes are typically in our attics and our hose bibs are exposed because it is cheaper and isn’t a problem very much) I will be using every trick in the book to prevent my pipes from freezing and bursting.
Can you let me know if there's anything I'm forgetting? We have a sprinkler system and I've turned off the water to it and drained it and wrapped it. We are also planning to let water trickle in the house over night. Is just in bathroom sinks enough or do we need to run every faucet?
If you can close off the sprinkler system from inside the house or under ground it would be best. If not, double wrap the part coming up out of the ground. I just had a cutoff valve installed inside my garage. Those things freeze easily. I’ve already had two freeze and break on me. (old house and new house). Old house was because I didn’t know to drain though. New house burst a metal piece.
I bought a small heater to heat the part inside my garage where my well’s pressure tank and piping are.
The part you are forgetting is water supply to toilets, washing machine, and ice maker. For my ice maker I will simply dump the ice and just have it make ice all night. I’ll flush toilets during the night. Like now, I tend to be up in the middle of the night a lot. (dinural sleeping). Not sure what I’m going to do with the washing machine. Dishwasher is fed from the kitchen faucet, so with kitchen faucet running it’s not a problem.
I’m also considering opening my attic doors to heat the attic. I have two furnaces for my two story and heat rises so I might be able to do it.
I did read that the pipe water temperature has to get down to just below 20 before it starts to freeze. The water has to super cool before it actually freezes.
You only need one. Get all the water you need. Turn off the water at the furthest point from your house you have access to (typically at the street). turn off the WH. Open everything. Don't let the WH freeze. Ok it's a system.
I think this is the route we’re going to go unless there is a power outage. g8rb81 isn’t really wrong. It’s just that we have a well and I want water to move through the well head to prevent it from freezing. (yes it is wrapped and we have oleanders growing around it, but it’s going to get damn cold). Even for much milder freezes I have seen one unprotected well head freeze in the neighborhood. My neighbor’s hose bib froze and burst on the corner of his garage when it was only in the teens. Single digits is serious business in Houston.
It’s pretty damn big for the Houston area. Plumbers and such are about to be able to buy second homes.
I was in Corpus Christi last time it snowed there. I think it was 06. It never snows in Corpus. IIRC 1920 was the last time. Didn't seem like too big a deal. I think the media is making everything a fucking catastrophe now. Only de gubmint kin sabe us now!
You guys have 10 day weeks. No thanks, I like weekends.
She's not a virgin anymore, Henry Cavill already got to her.......

It was so cold during North American winters during the Little Ice Age that the Mississippi would disgorge ice-floes into the Gulf of Mexico.
Greta is cabal-adjacent. I highly doubt she's a virgin.
