Indiana jones taught me it is always the bad guys
I will refer you to Acts 19:19. I think the good guys will need to burn their communist books and much more. It's about time we go on offense.
The difference is that in Acts 19:19, it was converts and reformed good guys willingly burning their own bad books. They weren't taking and burning books belonging to others, or silencing their opponents.
"Book burning", in the quote, suggests rounding up every copy of a book possible, by whatever means necessary, to burn them and keep them from everyone.
Be careful generalizing. Soon we might have to do a lot of book burning of copies of "White Fragility" and the likes
Won’t have to burn them. Good for identifying idiots that have/want them.
You make a good point. They should be given away for free, so that anyone who shows interest can be voted off the island.
Weren't the Nazis burning pedophilic material?
Negative. Always been those on the wrong side of history.
Is Fahrenheit 451 no longer required reading in our schools? Or do todays teachers teach that the firemen are the good guys?
The Crusades?
There was a legend about the Jihadists who burnt the library of Alexandra. "If the books endorse the Koran then they are unnecessary and may be burned. If the books contradict the Koran, then they are blasphemous and must be burned."
Yeah, I'm not sure if it's the Alexandria library, another library, or the year. It's one of those.... mythical sayings that could have happened, but we're not sure.
That may have been the same in 1193 when Turkomen jihadists attacked Nalanda University in India- the largest Buddhist university with temples and monasteries and a library. well the murdering perps killed monks and nuns, destroyed temples and monasteries and burned the library, which took 3 months to burn-what was lost was beyond value and the karma reaped resulted in the moslems never being able to unify beyond their tribal bickering. "Greedy, petty and cruel"...
I remember a decade ago when some it was reported that just the country of Spain translated more books into Spanish than the entire Arab world did into Arabic.
Karma indeed.
The "burning" books is simply this Dr. Seuss cancel stuff & other things like it right? Where are they specifically being canceled & which books?
When I have discussions with friends who still haven't realized the movie we are watching, I need to have details to back them up.
I would burn books about communism that are detailed enough to make it sound good that only people who know their shit will be able to tell that it has a lot of problems. Those kinds of books thats not obvious with their scam are the ones that needs to be burned.
