I used to really enjoy EDM but it turns out that's the most Luciferian of all. After my little run in with the spirit world it fucked me up so bad that I can't enjoy most of the things I used to.
Huge IDM and house fan here; I think it's a shame you feel that way. I feel it really comes down to the artist - although I'm far past my raving days so can't comment on the party aspect of it these days. It was kind of a disaster in the 90s, I imagine it hasn't gotten more wholesome in the interim. ?
I still like the music but some of it is seriously Satanic. Look at Rezz and similar artists. Not only do most have NWO symbolism all over their stuff but some have demonic sigils and similar things right in your face. After I saw the spirit world a lot of the stuff you see in the videos has influences straight from that place. Raves were fun and I loved MDMA but after my experience with DMT and the crazy poltergeist type shit that happened afterwards, I gave it all up and turned to Christ. It was one hell of a ride.
I found a love of old style music. Irish folk songs. Led to Canadian folk music. (Discover Stan Rogers through Pandora. He has working class songs for actually people with jobs. "Idiot I suppose" for instance -- not the Pete Seiger Commie garbage). Some religious stuff -- back to my own roots and some from others.
I NEVER liked pop. Even the songs around when I was growing up, I might listen to now from nostalgia for the malls, but I never liked it at the time. And the current crop of popular musicians? Couldn't give a crap. We'll see if anyone's listening to them in 20 years.
I get it 100% not familiar with a lot of EDM genre, assuming that's what Rezz is ( guessing dubstep lol). I don't want to self promote for several reasons, but I've been working on mixtapes that include Detroit Techno, Julianna Barwick, Chicago, the B52s, Robin Williams, Bill Hicks, Amazing Grace and everything in between. Definitely influenced by God and rand chance when I'm putting them together.
That said, feel free to check out Boards of Canada. I, personally, find the extremely Holy, and probably prophetic. Possibly extraterrestrial as well. ?
But yes, there's a lot of Darkness in a lot of these sounds. I like to flip it on its head in dj sets.
That's why I threw out my rock cds - don't miss them at all. Don't need satanic, pedo stuff. Same for a lot of films I used to like, though I was never keen on many of the actors; turns out my discernment was right, most dirty pedos.
I've gone back to mainly classical and am learning to play the yuke. The US Navy band have become a favourite too, specially Baba Yetu. They have great singers.
I almost exclusively listen to jazz, and as such, there are VERY few living jazz musicians left who I listen to, so I rely on their 50 to 60 year old recordings. It makes me sad to know that I will never be able to hear them play live, but the covid lockdown has shown that it is not the musician, but the music they made, which is important, and that music will live forever.
Although I almost listen exclusively to jazz, and jazz from about 1950 to 1970, with a few early 70's albums still pretty good (I like the Freddie Hubbard LPs from the early to mid 70's, for example), I find that excellent music in most genres is appealing to me (but I don't think there is such a thing as excellent hip-hop/rap or disco :) )
Music feeds the soul! I'm with Heckles, don't give it up! Just find the right artists who compose and perform from the heart, free from satanic influence. Like Xavier Rudd, for example.
Music is important, don't give it up.
ill grab my guitar or uke once in a while.
