No matter where you are on the earth these effects will occur as predicted.

I will set up a laser level at the lake shore.
We take a small boat and on it we mount a broad measuring stick.
We aim the laser at the measuring stick.
You set off moving away from the laser in the direction it is pointing and every so often you measure the position of the laser dot on the measuring stick.
If the earth is flat, you would expect the dot to not change position. Linear deviations from the original position simply indicate your laser is not level.
However, if the earth is not flat, you would expect the point to rise (in a non-linear fashion).
