The horse herd mentality is based entirely on trust and respect. They require respect of one another, which mamas teach their babies from the get-go, and the herd leader is the mare who has demonstrated that she can be trusted to promote the survival of the herd and thus the individuals in the herd. I spend a lot of time with horses because they're part of who I am and because they only operate from a place truth, and I've often thought what a shame it is that human society doesn't understand what horses know about living well.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!! And they don't allow the dumbest and weakest to breed either!!!!
only amongst each other
"Myth, Myth?" " Yeth yeth?" :P
Except if you're a lemming
That is yet another LIE we were told. The men who filmed this special for National Geogpraphic made the whole "lemmings jump off the cliff" up. They literally threw them off.
We are awash in a realm of lies. At best, we've only ever been taught half-truths our entire lives.

Well there's my lesson for the day :)

Lemmings was a fucking great game.
'oh no!' - pop!
Memories... KEK
Actually, the lemmings walking off a cliff is a myth!
Youre right; it's beyond absurd.
Animals don’t use Dominions Voting System.
I'm smart enough not to follow a dumbest and to know we don't pick our leaders usually.
Sticky this.
Great post. It's so true with animals. Dogs are the best example. Puppies need an alpha, otherwise they don't respect you. I'm sure you guys already know that. But I remember being a kid and my grandpa used to say something like, "if you ever want to know things, watch the animals"
In a wolf pack, the first 2-3 are the oldest and weakest.
