One of the South Park creators said something like, the only way to get Archie Bunker back on TV was as an 8 year old Eric Cartman on their cartoon.
Archie Bunker vs George Jefferson was pure gold. If you couldnt laugh at that shit, if all you saw was racism, you are a humorless piece of crap that takes itself way the hell too seriously.
I've been watching St. Elsewhere and even on that, there's a ton of stuff that wouldn't be on today's sad programming
OMG How are you watching St. Elsewhere ? My favorite show back then. I have season 1 on DVD and last I checked there were no more seasons.
All episodes are on hulu
St. Elsewhere is when I fell i love with Denzel Washington!
Haha hes why i started watching.....i was like wtf denzel was in a med drama for tv?!! And his character is funny. And howie mandel! Never thought he was actually funny before.
Saw Howie Mandel in a concert one time years ago. He was funny, but wow...pretty foul mouthed.
Did they set-up/frame then memory-hole Bill Cosby because it would hurt their narrative to point out the fact that for YEARS, the number one show on television was a family-friendly show about a successful black obstetrician married to a successful black lawyer lovingly raising their 5 kids? Even if Cosby were indeed a creep, the fact that White America ate up that show should say something about the narrative of racial hatred.
His records were hilarious as well.
"Dentists....tell you not to pick your teeth...with any sharp, metal object. Then you sit in their chair....and the first thing they grab is an iron hook."
"Dad is great!....Give us the choc-o-late cake!"
As kids, my sibling and I listened to his albums over and over; we knew a bunch of his routines by heart, which I'm sure entertained our parents to no end on car trips (they might have had a different opinion.) Ah....memories.
"To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With" We listened to this one growing up while visiting the Grand-parents. Had us laughing until we couldn't breathe.
That's the one with "Chicken Heart," wasn't it? I wish I could remember that routine!
Exaaaaaaaactly....
Watched them all growing up as an average middle-class female and glad I did. In my now 68-year life and a recently retired inner city hospital nurse, I have never personally experienced "RACISM" in any manner.
...and at ourselves
So miss that era. Our hearts need protection. We either harden our hearts and get offended or thicken our skin and laugh it off.
Red Fox was amazing.
I wouldn't be surprised if many based millenials watched these on Nick at Nite with their family.
Red would stick MadMaxs face in some dough and make gorilla cookies.
"sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" used to be true until faggots started saying "that's not necessarily true. Sometimes words can hurt more!". Combined with a high soy diet and you have today's "man".
Who do you suppose made words like "fuck, prick," and "cunt" derogatory words?
That's right. Homosexuals. Their thoughts and intentions are always backwards.
Think it through....
Temporary Lay Offs!
GOOD TIMES.
One of those shows destroyed three kid's lives.
Sanford and Son knocked The Brady Bunch off the air, thus destroying the lives of six kids who had to wait three whole years to return to television in an astonishingly bad variety show.
6 times the KEK! Too bad I can't upvote you 6 times!
All In The Family was a brilliant show. I love how even though Meathead and Archie played off of stereotypes they weren't just completely one-dimensional yokel characters. And I love how the writers were able to poke fun at both Archie and Meathead.
Meathead wasn't playing, he wasn't even acting. Rob Reiner really is that F'ed up in the head.
Yup Reiner was playing himself.
I loved watching all those shows growing up!
Just listen to some Don Rickles in the 60s Nd 70s. Cracks me up. Richard Pryor all those guys
Way before my time, yet my parents raised me good and all these shows are great. Not too many good shows in my generation.
Add "Married With Children" to that.
Have Married with Children set to record whenever its on any channel. Get about 50 per week on WGN and Logo. Watch em every morning before work.
It's on Hulu if you got it. I've been watching it whenever I have the time.
