Stopped drinking coke this January. I missed it at first, now the thought of it kinda grosses me out. I think too many of us are addicted to sugar, seriously. A diet change has changed my whole perception of taste, sweetness etc. I switched to homemade tea sweetened with honey as well as carbonated water for that nice fizz. The other day I tried some orange soda and just felt way too sweet and sticky. I'm glad I don't drink that stuff anymore, it's pure sugar ! Have lost a considerable amount of weight just from dropping sodas, too.
Congrats! Lots of brewed teas taste great on ice! Chai is great, too.
Try agave or monkfruit sweetener (the latter has zero calories).
Soda is just another additive junk food they want you consuming.
Thanks, fren! I have tried agave and also date juice as sweetener. I haven't tried monkfruit yet, will see if I can get my hands on some! And absolutely agree. :)
My pleasure! I have a baaaad sweet tooth and have found this does the trick for iced tea and iced coffee (add some cinnamon if you like, too!) In the raw monkfruit sweetener
Props to your mom, that's awesome! I noticed similar things, how I need less salt for something to "taste good". I was basically addicted to MSG, ate a lot of processed foods, microwave meals etc. Not missing it one bit, fresh food and home made cooking is the way to go! :D
Seriously, the importance of a healthy diet and the direct influence on our overall health is grossly understated. They want us fat and unhealthy so they can pump us full of even more harmful medication.
Got a detox plan you recommend?
I would suggest doing the Keto diet. Dr. Eric Weisman (spelling) has been helping people lose weight and get rid of many illnesses for over 30 years. He has a lot of youtube videos.
This makes me wonder, when W was in office, he denounced broccoli and refused for it to be served at the WH. I wonder if he did this because he knew broccoli is a super food and it went against Atkins diet.
Sugar (especially fructose) is a posion.
Personally, I didn't drink much cola regardless, my wife did. It took the trade, she drinks coffee with cream only, I would use cream and sugar, she gave up soda if I gave up sugar in coffee. That took longer to get used to than the cola.
We got the water fizzer and just put a squirt of lemon or lime and it is comparable to sprite without the syrup. Couldn't go back, when I've tried colas on occasion it's just too sweet to not also have booze in it.
That said, I've known numerous people who have lost 15+ lbs doing nothing else but switching soda with water.
Well done! I also love carbonated water with lemon juice. Making your own smoothies is amazing too, depending on the quality of the fruit of course, which is where it can get expensive. About the weight loss, dropping the sugar water has helped tremendously, as well as not consuming any alcohol. I drink only on the rarest of occasions now, have switched to organic weed as my drug of choice, haha. It has helped with skin infections, tooth aches etc., made many medications redundant, especially pain meds.
Way to go! Do you purchase your tea from a tea shop? If so, do they ship nationwide? I am looking for a store to purchase tea to support and get really good blends.
So far I've bought my tea from grocery stores, bagged tea leaves and mixes. I'm sort of new to this as well! I'm sure there's some great teashops, haven't even thought of that yet - mainly because I'm trying to limit my online orders as much as possible.
Ah, thank you for your quick response!
It tastes disgusting and it leaves you thirstier than you were before you drank it.
True of so many things. That dopamine rush is the key to the hook. Sugar overload WOOOOHHHHHOOOOO! SO HAPPY!
Then down. I must be tired.
Cannot connect A to B. This is truly our base issue.
Ooof. Bad move coke, making your product more expensive than before wont attract lost customers and will drive existing customers to alternatives.
So fun to watch a corp self destruct.
Coke can only sell Coke cheaper if they sell a lot. Quantities of Scale.
True, but with a fall in purchasing from standard users, increasing the price will drive away those who arent boycotting from buying as well.
That's a good thing. :)
"citing costs with the pandemic..."
Yeah, ok. Call it whatever you want
Typically corporate pricing decisions aren’t made that quickly. Good chance this was the result of a couple months of analysis.
Could be the price of "flavor enhancers" has gone up as well...
