The key to leaving one state to join another, or starting a new state, is found in the general welfare clause of a state's constitution - not because of a difference in political positions. Oregon State government has most certainly violated the general welfare responsibilities to protect its citizens. Look at the mayhem in Portland where the state government either willingly or sheepishly failed to intervene and left a large segment of those populations to fend for themselves. The state had the obligation to step in when the local government was unable to do the job.
This is not about a difference of political opinions, but a matter of public safety that the state government failed to provide. Therefore, with a vote of no confidence by the citizens, they have every right to seek new new government - something that is promised via the US Constitution.

If these Oregon Counties are willing to help us build a border wall, then I am all from them joining ranks (changed my mind from previous comment in thread).
It would make more sense to use the vote to affect policy change and get Oregon back, at the very least, to center. We could start by eliminating mail in voting only. I have a hard time imagining the vote hasn't been getting cooked with this process since it began. There's a lot of based people here. There's a lot of weirdos but, a lot of based people, too.
Almost impossible to get that approved by the feds. Only Texas has the ability to do this in any reasonable way. Having these counties latch onto an existing state was done specifically because it was the far easier path.
We in Eastern Washington want to separate from liberal Western Washington and have our own state.

This will all come down to law enforcement. If the local LEOs in those area all decide together to work out of an Idaho precinct, who’s gonna truly stop them if it’s the will of the people there?
