I really don't have any trust in VPN's. I could be wrong because I haven't researched VPN's but do you guys think the powers that be would allow VPN if it actually did what it said it did? To me, its a false sense of security, the government has been after any and all data going back to the inception of the Internet. I could be way off base because I only have basic knowledge of how it works. What do my fellow pedes think?
I'm pretty sure Dod has all of that info going back to early internet days. Atleast thats why I say I dont trust them. I will say though just because the dod can access that info doesn't mean anyone else can. In a sense I wish noone used VPN so Google could see all the people that don't support commies.
Your probably right though about using vpns, im sick of all the stupid targeted adds selling nothing but cheap bullshit.
A VPN that will work from any browser, still don't have a clue.
A VPN that will work from any computer however would probably be Epic Privacy Browser, which is free and comes with several free VPN's include in the browser and sorted by geo-location...
Yup, I use private internet access, (PIA). Works good, I do have to occasionally turn it off when I can’t get to a site and sometimes while shopping I am unable to get to a site unless I turn it off. Otherwise it works great and they allow you to pick a location.
If you have an even semi-decent cpu, you can also likely run virtual machines right from your desktop, connect to your VPN from inside the VMs, and use them to search on topics you don't necessarily want linked to your name.
I use Windscribe. They offer a free limited plan and their paid services are cheap and effective.
I believe Nord had a data breach a couple years ago so I don't know if I'd trust them.
Nord is the best. They are outside of the 5 eyes cannot be forced to give up your information

Thanks for the info on vpns.
why yes. funneling one's information through a separate company that claims to be on your side (for a fee) is definitely better.
See the discussion on privacy.win.
That said, I would recommend tot be cautious and ons very important issue is no- logs!
It won’t load
Top line above, click privacy section search vpn.
There are only a few who really do not keep any logs. Just as with ecrypted email.
What ain't there cannot be shared.
Mobile, as in on mobile, haven't got a clue.

PIA VPN.
They've been dragged to court twice and their data was untraceable back to the original user.

I’ll have to try that, thanks.
I use NordVPN
Hire a server in a free country and roll your own. If you want to be 100% certain your logs aren't tracked
I have used ExpressVPN for a few yrs now. Never had a problem.
Look for the bonus deal that gets you 12mo + 3mo for $100 instead of just 12mo for $100
PIA IS $40. A year and they have other rate options.
Proton is good and free, works on computer tablet and phone.
Thanks
