IIRC there is discussion in the trilogy that evil is incapable of creating anything, it can only bastardize what already exists. And here these idiots go, unable to create anything and bastardizing someone else's creation.

I read Tolkien many times when I was younger. I heard Christopher Lee say he read TLOTR yearly. Lee was a bad ass, a commando in WW2 who apparently informed the actors on set what a man dying from have a knife in him really sounds like. Tolkien used to say to not over analyze his work. I don't know the background of theses speakers is, but I doubt they have the philological talent or education Tolkien had. I think they're looking for things just to find them. In a work as large in scope as Tolkien's, including appendices, The Silmarillion, and other works, I'm sure they can find something.
I’ll admit I haven’t read these books, but my understanding from my parents is that books like these featuring magic (including especially Harry Potter) promote satanic witchcraft and devil worship. I’ll admit I was upset at the time when my friends were allowed to read these books and I wasn’t (and I will admit to, against my parents’ instructions, spending extra time at school reading the books when I could) but I have begun to consider that maybe they were correct. Could someone fill me in if my parents were mistaken and that’s not the case?
You can ignore the magic if you want, it's not promoted, it's mainly used by the baddies for control purposes.
The main thing is a desperate fight to the death against evil by ordinary people who would rather have stayed at home. There is only a small chance of success.
The heroes keep going due to their grit and faith even though they have very little hope.

The author of the Lord of the Rings is a Christian. Also, the Chronicles of Narnia books, has a christian author. The christian symbology and messaging is much more noticeable in those books/movies, but some of these can still be found in Lord of the Rings.
