I work for a fed agency (please don’t judge me, I’m a patriot through and through) and while I haven’t been told “ I must have the vax” to work, they will judge me if I don’t want to go. If I go, I may catch it and have to quarantine for 2 weeks in a shit hole country which is Mexico. No support, can’t come home on a flight, languishing in a hotel room or a shitty hospital. If I say I don’t want to go, they say, “well, your job requires you to travel, so you should get the the vax, otherwise we don’t need you”. Then if I die, because of complications of the vax, my wife has nothing to defend herself. Can’t sue, can’t blame. Am I overreacting, should I worry, is it no big deal? I’m healthy, not overweight, not diabetic and actually think I got the “vid” Nov. 2019 and had no issues since. Just looking for some positive confirmation or realistic analysis.

Dude - you have a higher probability of getting Montezuma's Revenge than the Wu Flu. Go do your duty
Only eat things that are boiled, canned, or in a husk that you can peel cleanly.
And, don't drink the water or eat a salad.
Just go ya wimp. covid is just a flu. It can be bad in rare cases. Have you ever been scared like this during flu season. If you get the sniffles, ivermectin is used in mexico and easy to get. Jeez man .... be a man.
Take it weekly and bring some back to sell!
Well when you get to Mexico go to a pharmacia and buy yourself some HCQ or Ivermectin, or both. They sell it OTC. When I was in Mexico a few weeks ago, and BTW, not all of Mexico is a shithole, I took one HCQ a day to fend off any trace of covid. Believe me, they don't want to quarantine you any more than you want to. Honestly, I don't think you have much to worry about but I understand your pause.
The news from here ( another shirtless country) is that Mexico is one of the few places left w/ medical freedom, ivermectin, normal lifestyle, etc., the privat hospitals should be ok, just avoid tapwater, ice, etc you should be fine...
A job is not worth your health.
Start taking Ivermectin. Continue taking it while you are there. Problem solved.
Yeah, I will take my chances with the corona...no vax for me, under any circumstances.
You can buy Hydroxychloroquine over the counter in Mexico.
ask a doctor for prophylactic ivermectin or HCQ.
If you are young, healthy and already had the vid you have nothing to worry about. Don't fall for the fear mongering.
How is it not a HIPPA violation for them to even ask your vax status?
Because HIPPA applies to government and health agencies - not employers.
But OP said he works for a fed agency.
I used to travel to Mexico a lot for work. Pre corona-time. What I can tell you is that you can get a well-educated English-speaking doctor for the price of an oil change here. They totally know their stuff, and they actually care about healing you. Although I only got sick on a trip once, the hotel doctor treated me for free. And Mexicans here in the states will routinely travel to Mexico for planned treatments. It can be a challenge if you don't speak Spanish, but I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. 80% of the people who get it don't even know. Enjoy some nice meals for half the price of the US, and enjoy the trip.
Find a new job. You are working for a drug cartel and human traffickers. Get out while you can! Run!
I am used to being on the outside so it's easy for me to say, but I would not get it and I would not care what my coworkers thought. I know people who have been advised not to get the vaccination because of their other illnesses or reactions to other vaccines. Maybe you could get your doctor to say you've had past reactions to vaccines and therefore you should not get this.
Update: besides Mexico being a complete sh*thole, I made it back. Observations: masks everywhere, all the time, inside and outside, temperature checks before entering businesses, needed to stand in a line for an hour for a COVID test which only took 10 minutes for a result. However, I made it to a pharmacy and was able to purchase some hydroxy and some ivermectin (pills) for myself and my family for only $50 U.S.
Don't consent to any testing.
The test is no bueno. No test, no fake vax.
Exactly
From the research and reading I've done, you get the Vax, you'll still get covid anyway. I'd risk it, if you actually get sick and it's not a false positive, get Ivermectin or HCQ.
i have no analysis for ya but like most of us, if you don't want it, trust your gut!! bc your guts might be fucked if you get it. NOT worth it. even losing a job isn't worth your life, even if it makes life hard as hell for a while. Work bullying and pressure is no reason to make a medical decision for yourself. We know it is iffy. Don't vax. Take your trip. live. My dad has had a pacemaker and COPD for years, got the vax and now is having surgery tomorrow for a collapsed lung. the other lung will also collapse needing the same surgery. yes, his many many years of smoking caused everything but why did his lung last over 70 years without collapsing before the vax. with no solid proof of a damned thing, why risk your life. even simply going to mexico is safer than that, scarily enough.
Hard to tell without knowing how old you are.
If you don't have to get the mRNA shot to travel, you don't need to get it.
If you're still worried regardless:
In most cases you won't even need to worry about the above, but if you are then just buy the insurance as outlined.
Obviously DYOR, but I don't see any good reason to get the mRNA shot at this point in time, even if it might end up turning "good" one day.
The unknown long-term variables and empirical acute risks just far outweigh any tangible benefit.
More information: Once my work is done, in order to fly back to the U.S., I must have a negative COVID test. If it’s positive, I have to quarantine in country for two weeks, then take another test to show negative then, I’ll be allowed to fly back. My plan is to hit the pharmacy on arrival, grab some HCQ, and a z-pak as a contingency plan in case of a positive test. But, I will not quarantine in country. I’ll make arrangements to grab a rental car and make for the U.S. border instead of flying back. Once I’m on U.S. soil, I’ll grab a flight home. I’m not gonna stay down there and die in a hotel room because my agency can’t make a decision on what to do.
If you don't choose to get Jab go N95 and wash your hands often. My spouse has spent 36hr a week in ICU filled with COVID pt for well more than a year now. Hasn't caught COVID and is tested every 2 weeks.
Washing hands is BS. When I had covid last year my wife still shared the same bed and didn't catch it.
So, if you don't want to catch covid, try sleeping with a 70-year-old bald, slightly plump man. (Or woman, probably.)
This is good advice. Use it as a prophylactic
Yeah or just go to tractor supply and get some horse paste ivermectin, can use for prophylactic. I’ve read that one needs to just take a dose every couple weeks.
