You have it backwards - hackers adopted the white hat from existing terminology for "Good guy" vs. black hat for "Bad Guy". It was a standard in old westerns that the Good guys wore white hats, bad guys wire black hats.
He's a pretty interesting guy with some unique insights into what's going on. As with all of the people I listen to, some of his stuff seems pretty valid, some I take with a grain of salt and some of it I throw right in the trash, but no matter what else he does, he always gives me a different perspective on what's going on.

Though he didn't know what they were telling him at the time, once 9/11 occurred he was able to go back through the data and relate certain web bot info to 9/11. It's not so much that they predict the future, but rather that they give notice of things related to future events. The web bots at this point seem to be saying something of significance will occur between 7/23 and 7/26, but Clif has no idea what it is.

The simplest explanation I've heard was that in westerns the good guy would have a white hat and the bad guy would have a black hat.

Certainly doesn't seem immutable to me, given that torrents can be taken down.

The implication of the site was that the leak would be permanently etched onto the blockchain though.
This would only be possible if the files were somehow etched onto the blockchain, as opposed to just some magnet link.
The moment the torrent or all hosts disappear the magnet link becomes worthless as it would lead nowhere.
