I am seriously considering running for school board here in my local community in North Carolina because I do believe in public education that serves all the kids who deserve a second to none education. It is our future.
Frankly I really do not know much about how a school board is actually ran. I have a vision, but doing the actual job is something I lack knowledge in.
I would like to set up an exploratory committee or something to flesh out if it is for me or not. I'm looking for advice. I'm looking for someone who knows he ins/outs of being on a school board, or someone anyone who knows how it actually operates. How it operates per the county commission, and per any state mandates, regulations, laws ect.
Where do I start?
Any help would be nice.
My platform is no CRT, no outcome based results, no LGBTQIA2+P, no common core. I want to support teachers and parents. I want a good solid curriculum that actually produces results.
I love kids because I love my daughter who also attends public school.
Anyone wanna give some advice or pointers?
Exactly...
My wife nearly ran, however a local anti-mask doctor decided to so my wife is helping her campaign instead. We are aiding this person by reading through curriculum and networking with our friends.
First thing you need to do is hookup with some like minded school district parents to get the scoop on who’s up for re-election and help in deciding when to run, etc. If you do decide to run, these will be the people you’ll want on your side to help campaign door to door, yard signs, fliers, etc.
A coordinated effort will likely be better than a scattered approach.
Keep in mind that the liberals are very entrenched. The teachers unions are often the kings makers for school boards. They fund the lefty and RINO candidates. Essentially all the ones that stabbed parents in the back and locked down, push CRT and masks.
As soon as my wife identified and targeted online by the crazy cat lady lefties around here.
"A coordinated effort will likely be better than a scattered approach."
Totally true.
I’m in your same position - interested in running, at square 1…I’ve reached out to “moms for liberty” to get familiar and orchestrate a county chapter where I live. They seem like a great resource that is Florida based and have since gone nationwide. https://www.momsforliberty.org/
thank you very much
Good on you for standing up!
Look up your school board meeting and choose a few and watch them on YouTube or what ever the county uses to provide them. If you cannot find the school board meetings online call your county commission office and ask where you can watch prior meetings.
The least they can provide is a place for minutes of the meeting for you to read. You will get a feel for the work and needs of the schools in the location of your campaign.
PS Start by looking up your local school board and those who sit on it. Cideos probably loaded up there. Perhaps look at who's seat is up for election...
If it all begins to overwhelm you and you really want to help find out who is running on the school board races, find someone good and help them. You will learn so much! Volunteering on campaigns is great fun and very rewarding!
Pss Then you will be ready in 2024!
You should do it!
For anyone that wants to make a difference on a board or in government, my best advice is to understand how general assembly and government procedure works. If you know how to control a debate or general assembly, many times it allows you to control an outcome.
As an example, if CRT is a topic for discussion and is being reviewed as an option of learning, a board member can quickly make a “motion to postpone the topic indefinitely”,... then you get someone to second it and a quick vote of approval,..... tah-dah,... you just dismantled the conversation and ended that debate before anyone knows what happened.
Having the ability to steer the conversation is very powerful. Here is a link to Robert’s Rules of General Assembly. It is a cheat sheet for how to run a general assembly meeting. It includes many avenues to steer and control a dialogue as well as which motions can be over ruled and which motions cannot be amended.

Good luck and Make A Difference!
^^^THIS^^^ Excellent advice! There is a lot to learn, more than most will let on. There’s the procedural side, and the substance of what is taught in schools. So you can see that you can vote things out that you don’t want. But, be ready to offer up what it is you DO want. What do you think a school is for? What topics should be taught? Then present THAT to the board. Do your research, it’s not that hard although there is a learning curve. But all the information is out there, for sure.
You might find your new voice and a place to really make a difference!
Plan and Go!
thank you for your advice
Here is a typical libtard school board meeting:
half hour of "PR" with "members of the community" doing photo ops with the school board libtards
four solid hours of social justice warrior bullshit that has nothing to do with managing the schools or even the school facilities
about five minutes of "comments by the community," who are carefully screened and only have one minute each before their microphone is turned off
It doesn't matter what you know or don't know. As you are, you are a big move up from the bullshit going on now.
Do it and God bless you.
I agree but I'm looking for advice and direction
Do it
You got this.
Figure it out as you go. The only way to guarantee failure is to never try.
Just do it...
thank you for the reply, but I want more than just a slogan. I'm serious.
You can also contact our own Lt. Governor, Mark Robinson and reach out to him also. He may also provide you with some support as he is also against CRT and many of the same issues you are against. He is a lead member of the Education system here in NC.
That is something worth considering. I'll definitely look into it.
That was not intended as a "slogan". I meant go ahead and throw your hat in the ring....
You don't need an exploratory committee. Just run.
Most people I encounter in public service are completely unqualified to do so and just get in based on relationships and recommendations. Fake it until you make it. Or just be super lazy and only listen to the guy above you on the totem pole- which is part of why we're in such a big mess in the first place.
You’d have better luck starting a private school and charge tuition.
Plan B. I would suggest that too if she should not be successful on school board.
You don't have success by creating an asylum. You have to reach the masses, or the whole society fails.
thank you for the encouragement
I believe you are right
