Can’t somebody (or Trump) at the very least launch a petition to go back to paper? Is there no function for this? In the U.K. we can launch petitions and if it gets to 10k, the Government responds. If it gets to 100k, then Parliament considers debating it.
The biggest thing I hate about those in opposition to voter ID, is even if we take everything they say about it as true, they act like it's an impossible problem. Okay so we have all these people who can't get ID? Then GET THEM ID!
I'd be all for tax payer funded program to get these supposed people some ID. No transportation? Get some public transportation vouchers, shuttles, even volunteer drivers. Can't do it during regular hours? Pay some overtime and keep the DMV open 24hours until it gets done. Hell even have mobile units where you take the employees and equipment needed directly to who needs ID. Comp any fees. Whatever the cost of this, it would be pennies compared to a multitude of other things government wastes money on, and then we would have more secure elections!
What about our military men and women? How are they going to vote when deployed. The thought of stripping the ability to vote from those who are putting their lives in jeopardy for our basic rights is abhorrent.
