One fact that I learned from researching is that if you have insider knowledge on real-estate deals companies are making, it's not illegal to act on it. So, if for example, you know your company is going to buy up tons of land in some small city next year and you go buy up property in the area before it becomes public knowledge, it's not illegal.

Congress allows itself the right of self-dealing in all investments. corruption is not necessarily illegal. that's the point.
Yea. Congress is so corrupt. But the other one I mention applies for ceos and everyday people like us. A ceo of a company could tell his relatives to go buy houses in some city before he announces expansion of his company there. Real estate transactions on insider knowledge isn't illegal but feels like it should be.
Probably because property taxes would rise as the property value rises.

So... Pelosi helps pass legislation for a rail system. Pelosi's husband uses federal grants and State power to buy or steal land. Feinstein's husband gets federal grants and buys the land from Mr. Pelosi. Mr Feinstein then sells the land to a developer who got a federal loan to buy the land. Did I get that right? Because that's quite the grift.
