Poor phrasing on my part. What I meant is that people lump DDT in with other harmful substances, when in fact it's not remotely harmful. The real harm was banning it, which allowed mosquito populations and the diseases they carry, like malaria, to proliferate. In fact, there have been millions of preventable deaths in the decades since the ban.
You can find the EPA's transcript of the hearing where they admit that there's little scientific evidence to support a ban other than projections and speculation (read: FUD).

They blame the mosquito for carrying it, then claim the virus causes the health concern (in that case it was effecting fetus development), then claim the thing they spray is necessary to kill the mosquitoes, but all the countries that poured that poison in their water still had positive tests for zika and still had high rates of birth defects, but the countries that did not pour the poison also had high rates of zika and NO birth defects. Because they LIED about zika being the cause. It was always the "cure" that caused it and blaming the virus was the coverup. They did it with polio, they did it with zika and they are doing it AGAIN with covid!!
