Many states, such as NY State and NYC have captured production work through issuing tax credits up to 30 cents on the dollar and 40 cents on the dollar for below the line costs on TV shows and movie production, below the line costs includes manpower. It’s actually created a lot of jobs and has been great for our economy. Amazon makes their own content. It would have been insanely stupid for Amazon to have made the deal and not build their own sound stages, as it stands now they have to pay for them, if the deal went through, they’d have space for studios they don’t have to pay rent for. Would have translated into more high paying jobs for New Yorkers but AOC squashed it with her ignorance.
