Ok. Frightening if true. But... is there any other possible explanation at this point for those scanners? Anti-theft? I'm not throwing away his hypothesis, but I'd like to have some validation that the scanners are, indeed, going to be used for that. Maybe the top scanner is a temperature reading device... if you've got a fever, we don't want you opening the door (regardless of covid crap... a fever is a fever).
I'm also wondering if he is in places like Portland or San Francisco where they have a looting problem. These might make it easy for employees to lock quickly if they get hit. Notice he says "You can't even break through them". That sounds like the perfect doors to stop looters.
The device on top is too high to read temperature. Average height people would have to stand on their tiptoes to reach it or try hopping at lot.
It would be a lawsuit in waiting on behalf of people with dwarfism or who are physically handicapped and can't stand up to that height. They'd get sued to hell and back if they put a temperature scanner up that high. What about elderly people who can't reach it?
I think they're just doors to stop looters. He's probably in an area with a big looting problem.
It's probably a place with a looting problem. Those doors looked designed to stop looting. He says "You can't even break through them.
The top part is too high even for an average person to have their temperature scanned. Most would have to stand on their tiptoes. People with below average height, dwarfism, physical disabilities or who are paralyzed would be unable to get a drink. It'd be a massive lawsuit.
I don't buy it. I think they're just doors to stop looting.
do you know how much those doors must cost? do you think the miniscule amount of money they lose on a stolen soda requires this. if it was about stealing they would seal up everything.
Also do you really think they'd put something to test temperature that high up. It's a massive lawsuit in the making. How does a person paralyzed from the waist down open it?
No business place would rig it that way. So if someone who is 4'5 comes in how do they open it? Get a ladder?
Do you know how much money getting sued over that would cost them?
stop it you are messing with my paranoya. it could be something as simple as the demands for certain refrigerators with locking doors is the new rage and in the long run its cheaper in that they will have more data points on when to cool them what time of day.
Hopefully those stores are preparing for broken refrigerator doors and damaged scanners.
It's looks like to stop the unmarked from being able to steal.
They do things incrementally so we don't kick up a fuss

Where is this at, exactly?

Even if it's just for theft that's still kind of dystopian...
True. But Portland and San Fran are already dystopian hellscapes.

It's not a one time looting. It's over and over.

I'm not sure where abouts in America it says the shop is Walgreens.
Found the vid on a patriot telegram group
FWIW we have these in Tampa. They're garish and dumb.
That glass seems like a serious design flaw if they want to keep People out. 😂
