It would be hysterically funny if we didn’t know people who actually think this way and punish their family members and friends by not allowing them to be with their family members until they have the required number of shots. These people are so mentally traumatized now, I doubt they will ever get back to any sense of normality. They will end up being bitter old hermits.
I fear that my mom is getting this way. Not in the way of retribution, but dad has had some health issues lately. Between that and their age, I understand being careful about the 'rona given the news messaging and them living through Polio (ie, the vaccine that saved the world).
At the same time, I have two little kids. If they have so much as a sniffle (which is at least monthly right now) I call them up and see what makes them comfortable. We've skipped out on a few things to keep the possibility of transmission of anything to a minimum.
They still can't resolve "the vaccine protects you", "your symptoms can be less severe" and "you can still get covid" with any amount of logic. She's both told me to get the stab so I don't get it, and that I can give it even though she can't get it because she's stabbed.
I've always told them if I get it, the numbers are in my favor and it's better to have symptoms and stay away than to show up and be asymptomatic.
I went to a barber shot today. They had the "must wear masks" sign. I put a tissue over my face and went in. After a while one of the barbers gave me one of their masks. I didn't have time to search for another barber, so I went along. I said, "Don't worry, I've had covid so I'm not a threat to anyone, or threatened by anyone". Then one of the barbers said, "Well, I had covid, and it's been 8 months and I still don't have my sense of smell back", and then he said something about wishing he had been able to get the shot, instead of covid. I wanted to, but didn't, ask if he has since gotten a covid shot (I believe he probably did), but I didn't want to get a total butcher haircut :)
In places where there really make me wear masks I wear them a little off & funny. They don't get I'm mocking them. They try to 'help' me. By then I'm done with my biz there

Why'd you wear a mask and give them your business at all?
I was pressed for time and my choices are very limited where I live.
My barber in based TN refuses service to the masktarded. Whole place decorated with Iraq/Afghanistan mementos.
My barbershop is decorated with police patches. He would close rather than require masks.
How do they manage to do a complete job, as in around your ears or beard? My barber doesn't require crap.
The barber pulled the elastic down when he was cutting around my ears. That seemed to be the only place it was an issue.
find another barber ...!
