Disappointing that they left it in place for healthcare workers.
and if that includes homeopathic health care people, this could destroy any chance at natural cures of illnesses etc
Most homeopathic providers and those in alternative care do not accept insurance, and if they do, they do not accept federally funded insurances like Medicaid and Medicare for obvious reasons of government interference. As a small business owner they are under no obligation to force vaxxinations upon their employees - and many will not. I do not see how this decision affects them in any way. They for the most part operate in a parallel medical economy to begin with. We will start to see more allopathic providers start to move into this arena in the future for the same reasons. There may also be some advantages for using private membership associations as a business model versus more traditional LLCs.
Honestly, this is a move that in the long run is going to save medicine and how it is delivered - by having patients actually have a direct stake in their health care. They will be more of a partner in that care rather than just the recipient of a prescription. Because of the insurance model, most patients are oblivious to the actual costs of disease management. It is going to be a bumpy ride until the dust settles, but this could be very exciting and is a change I actually look forward to.
Did that include businesses of any size?
i believe so from what i read
That does suck....
As usual SCOTUS took an easy out by ruling with regard to OSHA only and not on the constitutionality of the mandates. A case is going to have to be structured to challenge that very question of the limits to Executive Power of the President with regards to health mandates and then see if the court will have balls enough to take it on. This decision only reins in the authoritative reach of OSHA and that's it. But then again, that was the only relief asked for in the lawsuit. The healthcare worker case I am not as familiar with and do not know what relief was being sought and on what grounds. SCOTUS does not want to really make any constitutionally ground breaking decisions and avoids them at all costs. They would much rather pass that responsibility off to others.
You're right and that probably doesn't bode too well for the abortion case. Roberts tries so hard to be above politics, but the Supreme Court is inherently political. Nothing he can do about it, except use faulty reasoning to avoid looking political.
They will avoid a case that would have far reaching implications. They only tend to take chip shots at issues just to make it appear as though they are doing something. Then again, it would be scary to have SCOTUS hear more challenging far reaching cases. Trump's picks to the court are questionable at best. They are not the hard core conservatives we were led to believe and are very much aligned to big business - especially Barrett. The Federalist Society is a joke. In the end, Trump's biggest downfalls were due to the really crappy advice that he knuckled under to instead of following his own good instincts.
Aren't many healthcare workers employed by large businesses? For instance, Ochsner Hospital has 26,000 employees.
They left the mandate in place for any place that accepts federal money through medicare or medicaid.
I suspect we'll see efforts on a state level in FL and TX to ban facilities from taking federal money.
YES! This is the way! GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF HEALTHCARE!

CHECKMATE
Yes!!
May I ask what kind of tiger you are? LSU Bayou Bengal here
Go Bengals! I volunteer at a large cat rescue…for around 12 years now. So I play with real ones. Totally blessed to have this opportunity.
That's so cool! I just try to save the feral cats in my back alley.
That’s a cool thing too. All cats big and small need love. Thank you for taking care of the fur babies
I do what I can. Funny how territorial they are.
BQQM
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD.... I CANNOT BELIEVE IT...
BUT YAY!!
Are we sure though?? Remember when we all thought Roberts struck down O'care until we realized he inappropriately changed the definition...
WTF, interesting. Plz, more about this if you don't mind!
Oh that goes back to 2010. When the decision was announced, at first it sounded like Obamacare was struck down.... Until, a few moments later, it was discovered Roberts just called the mandate a "tax"....
They really like changing their definitions, don't they. Oh the jab doesn't work? Let's change the definition of "vaccine" so it's more encompassing.
Praise The Lord! 🙏
I'm genuinely surprised.
But I'll still refer to them as the supreme whores.
supreme CUCKS
I am too. I thought they were just going to ride it out without a ruling. This is a big win!!
For now.
All scotus decisions should be listed as, who voted what way, and their published reason as to why they chose that way.
But here is the thing....think of the sheer gall and historic overreach in merely suggesting a person get jabbed, and then the gall of taking this to a Supreme Curt vote. I will never forgive this....EVER. We have to slap hands backs so hard that they don't dare try this ever again.
I agree. Everyone complacent in this atrocity needs to be held accountable. I do think when the truth of all of this comes out that is when suicide weekend occurs. I imagine those responsible who really had no clue to those who knew will take the easy way out.
Does anyone know the breakdown 5-4 or 6-3?
6-3 by what I saw.
So, Roberts voted for it…any other of “our guys”?
The ruling is printed in full here: https://edition.cnn.com/2022/01/13/politics/read-supreme-court-vaccine-rulings/index.html
Can all the people that were forced now to either get vaxed or fired Sue?
