I also think this is a distraction. It is a new tool that can be used for good or evil, just like the internet and this site! It adds complexity but not evil and suffering.
It's exactly the same argument liberals make when they say the gun killed the person. NO! One person killed another by shooting him with his gun!
The TV/Internet/Metaverse doesn't manipulate/control you, evil people using these mediums as tools are the ones manipulating and controlling you.
There is a difference between adults adapting to technology and children/teens growing up using such technology.
The danger of VR is eroding your own concept of digesting and processing information from the real world, as your brain over time will get used to every sound coming inches from your ear canal, visuals displayed inches from your eye balls and especially, how you brain develops geospational memory, as such memories will over time only be possible within the metaverse.
Funny enough, they haven't mastered the concept of smell/taste digitally, so it would be easier to remove this sense if they wanted people to surrender their existence and become digital characters as the extension of one self.
That is all it is about, the abstract true meaning of analog vs digital. Full control, as in literally "full control", is only possible in a realm where God is no longer the only creator, as someone other than myself could have put it.
No metaverse or VR stuff for me. There's plenty to do here in the good ole real world that I don't need to escape to a virtual world to find satisfaction or entertainment. But to each their own.
Yes OP I agree with your assessment. First of all calling it Satanic isn't going to do diddly squat. It just makes people think of all the same things being said about Doom and GTA. Member? I don't really know if it is going to take off. It sounds really stupid plus young people love their physical selves look at all the selfies I don't see them trading for a permanent avatar. Plus there are already VR chat rooms and it hasn't taken over daily life. From everything I've seen of them people use them mostly for memes. Anyhow, I do hope it fails because it means a huge loss for everyone heavily investing in them and I think it would be funny.
I don't even like looking at TVs manufactured in the last few years. Makes me physically uncomfortable. I intend to live until i die without viewing any VR.
I also own one. At no point has it managed to distract me from the realities of the world around me, brainwashed me nor is it a vice.
As the saying goes: " all work and no play makes me a dull boy."

Motion sickness? I bet Pfizer has a drug for that.
I watched a youtuber stay in minecraft VR for three days straight. It's doable. The longer you stay, the more real it becomes.

That can all evolve and get dialed in over time. I'm pretty sure people are going to get sucked into that.
First thing I said to my daughter when I saw the metaverse video was "AHA! That is how they can get the world to worship the image of the beast."
I've always wondered what that would look like and how it didnt seem like it could be fulfilled in the world at its (then) present state.
When the metaverse religion starts to take hold, lookout, end times will be kicking off.
Revelation 13:15 is the part I could see relating to a metaverse world.
Then you look at this creepy Meta commercial and put it all together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2W9YVkkn9U
Well there medication for that motion sickness. Probably brought to you by Pfizer.
