If you don't get a valentine's day card or gift it doesn't mean shit
Trust me, it does to every little kid who never gets one. Bigly.
IMHO the entire exercise is stupid 20th century fake corporate bullshit and a waste of time, money, ink, and paper—ESPECIALLY for little kids, who aren't supposed to be out courting and wooing and falling in love and all that crap. Let kids have a childhood FFS.
When "popular" kids get dozens of valentines and the rest get the Charlie Brown treatment, it's like why are we doing this, again? What was the supposed benefit? Did we NEED to reinforce this dynamic?
What if we didn't do this? Is there some deep concern that kids might forget they're not in the popular clique if we don't remind them every so often?
What bad consequence would result if we treated valentine cards in elementary school exactly the way we treat all other greeting cards, and just didn't bother with them?
You misunderstood. When I say it doesn't mean shit, I mean they'll grow out of caring about it. And it's true. I didn't get many, and certainly less than the popular people. That hasn't mattered for a decade and a half.
These are just groups called "pods" to prevent cross exposure of the deadly Covid-19. The "Pods" are a method to conform to the Covid hysteria and brainwash the kids that interacting with their friends during lunch, recess, and on the bus etc is too dangerous.
Cuz you know, I'm driving around at least 3 - 5 bodies dead in the street every time I leave my house. It might be worse where you live. /s
Soooooo we gonna skip the part where instead of saying classrooms, theyre now called pods? Sounds a little prisonish to me.
Yeah that's fucked up.
Also fucked up that they're trying to toss out even more natural development in kids by trying to make them bring shit for everyone else.
You are only supposed to bring a card for your valentine. That's the whole point. To elevate them over the rest in your eyes.
If you don't get a valentine's day card or gift it doesn't mean shit and often they're given privately anyway.
But I guess a school that calls classes "pods" would rather destroy what it means to be human.
Honestly, if I received this I would be gathering as many parents as I could into a group and going in person the next day.

This right here, 110%!!!!
I couldn't agree more

Where have you been? 30 years ago it was like that. Source: that is when I was in school during valentines.
I'm in the Northeast:

Be sure to Bring out yer Dead
"Pod" was the first thing noticed as well..... Matrix anyone?
That is definitely prison/jail terminology. Jumped out at me when reading.
Classrooms teach you how to pledge allegiance to the flag, respect each other and learn real math. Pods grow communists.
PODs makes me think of Brave New World. Weren't the kids born without parents? They were decanted in pods or some kind of tanks.
