He averaged better than a point per game. For non-hockey Americans, that makes him a very good hockey player (especially for his era). Not that a person's athletic accomplishments should add credence to their "political statements" but the reality is, for a lot of people, they do. So, I think it's a reasonable assumption that his tweet carries additional weight in the minds of Canadians, especially (I imagine) for those living in Alberta.
He mimicked machine gunning the Soviet bench with his stick in an international game after he scored. I believe it led to a bench clearing brawl. I miss old hockey. 🏒
Theo Fleury is a national hero here really. Look into the Sheldon Kennedy thing. Fleury was one of the only people to believe him and stand up for him when the news broke. Was a major scandal in the hockey world a few moons ago.
Fleury has been beyond vocal against the mandates, passports and vaxxes since day one. I've never been a fan, but I'm 100% a fan of anyone that promotes our beautiful country and what we have here. Fleury is a good one for sure.
