This was my reasoning too.
We lose a laptop and say "Oh shit! My entire lifes on that thing!"
Hunter loses a laptop and says "I'll just get a new one"
I remember some hot mic moment of him saying something about a plea bargain.
This may be on the right path.

I feel really sorry for Hunter.
He's still a POS.
But I do feel sorry for him. Growing up with Joe as your father means Joe is your abuser, your jailer.
You have nowhere to go.
You can't go to therapy.
You have to deal with your problems the best way you can. Getting high and staying there.
It's surprising Hunter is still alive.
I remember that too, not too long after 1/20/2021. Wasn't the Potato doing a press conference or something and all of a sudden that clip of someone (likely Hunter, per anons) talking about a plea deal cut into the audio feed?
It’s “funny” how after Joe’s second cough he pats his chest twice & Hunter’s overlay begins? Interesting.
He didn't have the actual laptop, he had a copy of the hard drive.
Didn't the computer shop guy make a backup an notify FBI that came and took it the laptop?
For a person with resources such as this, buying a new laptop and having it set up with the same iCloud account with all data and settings automatically retrieved would be much simpler than picking up the old one. Not very smart to neglect wiping the old machine but smart and computer smart are different levels altogether.
