It is Latin. We say CV here in Québec, 'cause we speak French and résumé is a French word that has a different meaning so it would be confusing.
Yes use of CV over Resume is the norm globally, not just in Europe.
Even in the US this is gaining traction, albeit moreso in academia than in business.
Really? I'm a programmer in the US and a ton of people and job postings and general discussion uses the term CV over resume anymore. It's well understood what a CV is even if you don't always use the term. I usually call it my CV though, unless I'm talking to someone who I figure probably doesn't know what it is.
I've never understood why they U.S. uses "resumè" the way we do. Even before taking HS French 1, I didn't understand it.
