it's most likely a prop/plant. notice the unused straps on the rear. for military berets, those straps are usually tightened/tied to fit the head and then the tails burned off.
EDIT: not here, but there's a video of this and the straps were unused leading me to believe it's a prop/plant. there probably were frenchies there based on actual events, but this to me isn't conclusive evidence.
That’s in the US military, the strings on the beret. Other militaries keep them, specifically. I saw a bunch of floppy, funny looking berets in Afghanistan.
i saw that too, but never from militaries/units where berets are actually a longstanding tradition. those militaries/units maintain a standard for them.
Looks like they were embedded with Azov and Ukraine Marines in Mariupol. In their last stand they retreated to the giant steel mill industrial area, but when it started becoming hopeless with Russian forces closing in, Ukrainian military sent helos on a suicide extraction mission for foreign units.
France/UK special forces did the same thing fighting alongside ISIS in Syria, but they were successfully extracted IIRC.
Could be Foreign Legion. Could also be a French Attaché originally stationed with the Pentagon. Which would make sense if we have a LT Gen in Ukraine right now. Might be part of his staff.
The person wearing that hat would have surrendered long before it had a chance to get dirty.
A white flag is standard issue in their kit, no?
Its actually a war flag for France, the irony.
France was pivotal in our revolution.
Different time, different people with a common enemy ... the English King.
What have the French surrendered? Their support for the DS Iraq/Afghanistan invasions? Good for them.
I remember the cringey as fuck "Freedom Fries!" Phase because the French had pulled out.
Ya know, technically they won the French Revolution...against other French lol
Well the daily paris riots get pretty violent
In one of the crash videos showing the bodies a Russian soldier holds out torn patches from Tanzania, South Africa, and the French Royal Marines.

Why is this stickied?? Because it goes with the other sticky that's getting a bit old (posted as context, above), so let's get some eyes on it, quick.
What am I looking at
Defi itely not American Beret green. Though I cannot identify the Red, white, blue logo inside...
Later in the video it also had a French legion pin
Evidence war is live, NATO vs Russia

French NATO honchos, originally there to train Ukrainian military, not supposed to be there now.
likely NATO running the operation, in command of Ukrainian (plus foreign) fighters. they sure don't take orders from Zelensky.
This is my guess, wasn’t Macron speaking with Putin not that long ago?

Why are French guns the best to buy? They've never been fired, and only dropped once. I’ll show myself out…
No please, I insist. Stay. That was poetic.
I always heard that about Italian war rifles.
I cannot translate what was said but it appears it was found in a transport vehicle in mariupol. Saw on intel slava z telegram page.
