LOL. Total black licorice fan here too. When my children were little, I tried to introduce them to the joys of black licorice. One of them told me "it tastes like sadness".
Love black licorice no one else does in my family either so I get it all 😂
Haha - that is funny. I'll have to use that line in the future! There's something to behold in a ultra-tender piece of black licorice. My dad was in close cahoots with the Switzer Licorice Company as he had run all of their electricity lines back in the day through Ameren (in those days it was Union Electric), so he'd bring home ultra fresh batches of black and cherry licorice. Heavenly!
Lucky you! When I was a kid no one in my family liked it. I'd get a small bag from my Dad occasionally, but he never understood my love for it.
Agreed Entirely- Have you ever tried the Panda licorice? It's awesome, but you pretty much need to go to Whole Foods or Sprouts to find it.
I always seem to find these at the local Asian Food Marts too!
Panda is delicious! Trader Joe's has their brand, too, that is yummy.
The only thing I liked about black licorice is you could stick it on a front tooth to make it look like you were an NHL player :)
We did that! With Tootsie Rolls, too.
The taste is of nuance ….sophistication, joy, healing, strife, and suffering.
The first bite is like a grand opener to a good movie or story. Intensity, chaos, wonder. It captures your mind, your body and spirit.
The next bite reminds you of lives once lived, past, present, future. It’s a mingle of self-doubt and understand…
The next and subsequent bites… calm, melodic, joy. A conversation with an old friend, remembering the past and looking towards the future.
