For those who are buying into the Musk fiasco, thinking he's a good guy, I only have this to say: CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I've known many brilliant people in my lifetime, and I've seen that it's quite possible to hold different, sometimes even conflicting, ideas. While I don't agree with a guaranteed basic income, I do agree with Musk on his free speech stance.
If you're looking for ideological purity, where a person aligns with EVERY SINGLE OPINION that you hold....well, that's gonna be very hard to find. The Progressives pretend to have ideological purity, as we see in their virtue signalling Twats and TikTok's, but for thinking people, we can agree to disagree on things.
Side note: I saw a T-shirt at the gym yesterday, worn by a retired physicist, that said "I would rather have questions that I can't answer, than answers I can't question." Just thought that would be appropriate here.
Ideological purity? No, I'm looking for consistent belief in freedom. Guaranteed basic income is bandage. Intelligent people don't want that shit v
I think that it's entirely possible that Elon foresees the massive unemployment that will be caused by his development of AI. If he understands that his work will put millions of people out of work, maybe he feels some responsibility for that.
I think you're absolutely right about "hero worship" and the ephemeral nature of the object of that devotion. I try not to get caught up in that too, knowing that all people are fallible. If there is one central, basic rule about humans, it's that we are all fallible in one way or another. We all have blind spots an failings, and frankly I would be a bit put off if I came across someone who appeared perfect in every aspect of their lives.
Example: The Left can preen and virtue signal and claim ideological purity all they want, but I will never buy that.
The same with anyone on our side, what I call "the right side of history".... but smart people (and I assume most of us here on GAW are pretty smart people) will see and accept, even embrace, others here who have foibles and faults and differences. It's what makes us uniquely human. Those folks on the Left marching in lockstep to who knows where, now that's a scary sight to behold.
Great point. Well said.

Good to keep in mind.
Thanks fren!
Think of it like Pell Grants and the GI BIll of Rights and many other programs for college tuition Academe, seeing a free money tree in those programs, started raising tuition costs to absorb more and more of the grants. Today, tuition in most colleges / universities are through the roof and stand as another example of government spending leading to higher prices. So if everyone had a basic guaranteed income, just think what businesses and service providers would start charging so as to wring out maximum profits from such people.
It is another bad idea (like the minimum wage) that throws a monkey wrench into natural economics. It distorts the relationship between money, labor, supply, and demand.
Granted, the bloated welfare system you mention is a distortion too, but this would just substitute another distortion. Plus, the human race has shown that there is (and apparently always has been) some segment of our population that will sink to its lowest acceptable level of squalor and poverty if basic needs (and income) is met.
And with AI and automation, more and more people will be shifted to the non-worker category....which is yet another distortion of basic economic principles. That's why socialism and communism never work.... Capitalism is a purely organic economic system that grew out of what Adam Smith called "the invisible hand" with each person working for their own self-interests and without meaning to, improved the lives of others. Socialism/Communism are systems designed by a committee, or worse, intellectuals, and they don't work.
And just like that (!!!) two patriots can agree and/or disagree BUT MOSTLY JUST CHAT and still respect each other! Thanks for your kind words.
One of the glaring issues that Progressives and lefties have -- which is on full display everywhere -- is that they have a "Purity Test" and have to prove their loyalty to the cause by virtue signalling to show that they don't disagree with the approved narrative ONE LITTLE BIT! It makes for some of the hilarious posts we have seen here.
Thanks, anon, have a great day.
One of life's great mysteries is that every single one of us are unique, and sometimes in unexpected ways.
Homo sapiens seems alone in that characteristic. All cheetahs act pretty much the same way, as do giraffes, elephants, deer, and fish. With our greater brain capacity we each have unique and different motives, desires, and tastes.
The sooner we all realize that the sooner we might begin to live in harmony...
....but I don't see that happening in my lifetime.
Most people don't feel the need to explain why dumbass ideas are dumb. Would you care to try breathing under water? Should we have a conversation about it? No, because it's retarded.
This thread was the bees knees. Thanks both of you. WWG1WGA
A form of emphasis in text based speaking when you can't use italics etc.
Give me some then Elon.
Double agents keep deep cover until their true mission is exposed. Jus saying’.
Maybe it will be universal when the cabal is destroyed
I support UBI too. Only, and only if, it replaces all other welfare. Of course, I’m libertarian turned trump supporter and Milton also fought for a negative income tax. ALL other welfare.
Oh no!
Soon everyone will be losing their jobs to automation. AI already fills doctor, lawyer, and accounting roles better than actually humans can.
None of us can complete with automated machines working 24/7 with perfect memory.
Is UBI the answer? I hope not, but something has to change if humanity is to move forward.
He doesn't have to be on our side to be an ally in waking people up.
To balance the reason is Elon is making robots to do labor. There will be no need for labor.
Now the WEF wants a different goal. They want slaves to do the work.
Humans need to have some work to do. The goals good or bad I think will have a very negative impact over all.
That is why I don't trust him. But I also think he is flipped.
Is there a way that he could make Twitter worse? I mean, beware and everything, but it's hard to imagine that Twitter doesn't get better after this.
See Trump's daughter's tweet! Taken!
