Supreme Court Justices have had full time protection for decades. They have their own police department to protect them when they are in DC. They have US Marshalls to protect them when they travel.
When there are very controversial cases, they get MORE protection. This is not the first time this has happened and it won't be the last.

Garland simply appointed extra protection for SCJs by placing US Marshals outside their homes. Typically, SCJs only have US Marshal protection when they're traveling. Now they have them at their home alongside the Supreme Court Police who usually handle their protection in DC.
And remember the Federal Marshals are the ONLY Federal Law Enforcer's empowered to exist by the Constitution. All of the three letter agencies and Homeland Security are bogus and need to be terminated.
