I am the “conspiracy friend” for a pretty large friends circle. Interestingly, lately they are asking me about this shit as if Im a fuking strip mall Psychic, and they are the stereotypical wine soaked, midafternoon Karen that wants a mystic to explain why her hubbys been coming home with glitter on his pecker.
I keep telling my dad to buy DEF. I’ve showed him article after article on why there WILL be a shortage and he keeps blowing it off. He only uses his truck to pull his travel trailer but I don’t want to see my parents get stuck out in another state especially since they are in their mid-70’s. I told my wife earlier today that I am gonna stockpile some DEF so it doesn’t keep them from going to his annual Vietnam reunion later this summer…assuming diesel is still available.
As odd as this sounds, I have been told that def has a fairly short shelf life. Also, that there are different qualities. The “farm store” stuff was causing my delivery trucks a lot of issues.
Have had a lot better results from the def that I get from my fuel distributor.
DEF, or Diesel Exhaust Fluid, is required for all diesel engines since 2010. Run out of DEF and the engine shuts down to like 10% capacity. It is made from 60% deionized water and 40% horse piss (urea). Russia controls something like 90% of the worlds urea supply. Recently Union Pacific (controlled by Blackrock) told Flying J (countries largest truck stop chain for long haul truckers) they were cutting thier DEF supply by 50%.
That's why I only own old cars. I wish I could find a car that still has plugs, points, and condenser for the ignition system. If anything ever goes wrong it could be fixed in a few minutes at home.

Thanks. My dad did mention that it doesn’t keep very long.
Thanks for the info
