exactly^ and I understand the sadness, but how did these people end up in these situations and not us.
think it's because we're built differently & we work at educating ourselves.
most of the people affected didn't put in the time or effort to learn, they were too busy living in the superficial.
like the kids who didn't study for a test, I don't have a lot of sympathy for their predicament.
They watch television.
definitely, and I notice they try to push their shows on us. it's hard for them to understand we'd rather read.
or be outside in the fresh air or hang with people who also understand the bs narratives.
They don’t just watch television, they immerse themselves in it. Their lives pale in comparison with the “beautiful people” they see on TV, so they strive to remake themselves. They’re like the high school kid who’ll do whatever it takes to be part of the “in” crowd. If I watch all these witty, beautiful people in movies, or on TV (especially talk shows and reality TV); if I have money enough to get season tickets for good seats for a popular team, I become like them. Credit cards enable us to appear to be more than we are and soon it becomes a trap - not only can we not let the facade down, we don’t even know who we are anymore. Basically, it’s called idolatry. Whatever it takes to feel worthy - they’ll sell their souls for it.
I think we are people who are ok with just hearing new or alternative ideas. The other side seems so so scared of that, whereas we seem to understand that you are able to listen to an idea and not necessarily agree with it. They seem to believe to hear and idea is to believe it, so they push censorship and suppression. Even when they lament that nowadays everyone has their own take on things, whereas before the Internet everyone agreed with what the news said. It’s easy to think, yeah, that’s an issue, but - is it, really? What is the big harm of everyone having a slightly different take on things? It’s actually not that threatening if you think about it.
