So, about once a week since before the 2020 election, I've been passing this sign that some Democrat nailed to a tree in his yard. It said something to the effect that Biden was going to raise the minimum wage to $15/hr and wasn't this a wonderful thing! So many people would benefit!

Given that gas is, on average, around $5.00/gal and that about a third of your paycheck goes to taxes, etc., a person would have to work 8 hours to buy 16 gallons of gas -- just enough to fill your gas tank one time. Now add in rising housing costs, rising food prices, rising utility costs, etc., etc.
The minimum wage worker was far better off under Trump, than he is with Joe's "wonderful" wage increase.
I think our Democrat friend has finally figured this out.

Gas Prices are so deceptive because they're always in your face, I drive way more than anyone, 100 miles a day to commute for work - 50 miles each way. My car gets 33 mpg. So, typically I will spend $68 bucks per week which is 17 gallons - that's at $4 a gallon.
When gas around me hit $4.50, which is what just paid this morning, my gas bill was $76.50 to fill up.
Eight dollars, that's all it cost. If gas hits six bucks, that will be an extra $20 per week. I drive WAY more than anyone else - 500 miles per week. I hear about all these people talking about not being able to afford to go to work ...
That’s all… just $20 a week more. No big deal right? Wrong. That adds up to $80 a month. $960 a year. That’s just with one price increase. It’s now at least $2.50 more than when Trump left office. Clearly though all these corporations are in on it together (Vanguard/Blackrock), since in a competitive free market, all the companies that are selling products that would be considered non-necessities - and it’s a big market - would realize that people pouring more and more money into food, gas, rent, and other bills will only reduce the amount of money people are spending on their products. They would be pulling strings and lobbying government to protect their businesses, but they aren’t.

If you can't budget for $1000 a year extra, maybe you need to double down and look at how you spend money.
My response was to people saying they can't get to work because gas is too much. I own a business with over 300 employees. I've heard many tell me they can't work from the office because of gas prices and they have a 20 mile commute. I sit with them and do the math, and it always turns out to be an extra $10 or $20 a month tops because they don't drive very far.
If you can't swing an extra $20, you need to budget better.
Yes, food has gone up too, that's one reason I gave everyone in my company a 7% raise to match inflation. I've sat with many employees and looked at their spend. It's always the same story, they say OMG I'm spending $200 a week on groceries, well what were you spending before? Oh, $180 a week, ok, that's $20 extra, where can you get that money?
Stuff gets more expensive with time, this isn't a political issue. 20 years ago I spent 80 a week on groceries, now I spend double that easily, it's basic inflation and not something that whining about will fix, but it will get fixed with some fiscal conservatisim.
